On what basis does Jones make your midfield mate ?
If he does his Hollywood ball from further up the pitch it's just going to go for a Reading goal kick.
Jones is injured at the moment and his test results are awaited

I will be surprised if garetty is fit enough yet and likewise Clark; probably on the bench in time for Saturday and Fleetwood

I know we were crying out for extra personnel, but I wasn't all that inspired with the Gayle talk
Every Stoke fan I know laughed at the mere mention of his name, and just looking at what he's done... 3 goals in 50 games for Stoke, just 8 goals in 5 years?
It would have been a hefty wage for what would be "a good character for the dressing room" by all accounts.
The one thing he always had in his locker was pace, his last few years, he registered more offsides than shots in games.
He's been out of contract for weeks, and there wasn't really a host of clubs desperate to sign him.
Many won't agree, but I think it would have been a very expensive mistake
I agree but some of the other signings like loft beg to be believed and has scored only one goal and in my opinion should be sold but it was Flitcroft’s signing and that won’t happen

Definitely agree with Garrity and although Walters isn’t proven yet, Lowe has proven to be poor in midfield
I think Garrity will be a substitute for this game to be ready for Saturday and tge Fleetwood game

They weren’t must win games, they were mustn’t lose games. Take a point, keep the goal difference static and most importantly keep our relegation rivals behind us.
Crosby had to go, he’d been given more than a fair amount of time. The debacle at Fleetwood was the final nail. Moore has inherited a terrible hand but you can’t argue that the situation wasn’t obvious to him, obviously indicating that he’s got the job next season chance whatever the outcome this. He’s been left shopping in the free agent market so unless someone can pull a rabbit out of the hat we’re still in the same mess.
sadly we were poor yesterday and with all respect to Moore I feel he was appointed for division two with a five year contract and after yesterday’s performance I doubt he can get the four(at least) wins to keep us up; Reading is a tough game even though they lost to Portsmouth and Garrity is a way off fitness even though he is in training and I don’t expect him back until early March as it takes that long to get back up to his level of fitness and we only have the dreadful loft who has only scored one goal and really is awful and Wilson to score😂goals

personally I think we need at least three or four wins to stay up and rely on other teams losing theirs but Cheltenham are above us now

I think DM went as instructed yesterday unfortunately, well, I hope so. Yesterday along with Fleetwood were must win games, and we walk away with zero points, because of these results I think we will go down. I reserve judgement on Moore, if he keeps us up then he has done a very good job but personally I would have rather Crosby stay to the end of the season but given a decent striker to get the job done, I don’t think Moore will keep us up with the strike force we have.
I personally feel that the new manager was appointed with a view to relegation, which now seems very likely but it will be important that Moore has a hand in identifying the signings; get rid of loft, who I feel is one of the worst strikers I have ever seen at the club and get rid of jones and massy who rarely has a good game and jones is dreadful but I fear Flitcroft will dictate the signings and his record in my own view is unacceptable and below standards expected of the club; we need thre or four wins I we don’t look like getting one; be realistic and keep you fingers crossed

This home form has got to change and quick. Yes we have a hard core of support but it is so depressing to see your team loose on a regular basis are going to loose a lot of support! Some already lost! It is not just the loosing it's the manor of the defeats.
I absolutely agree but the manager continues with this awful tactic of zonal marking and not changing the tea; put Wilson on until he is worn out and then replace him at half time and play schorrack who should be lifted by the boxing day match but Crosby realhahasnt got a scoops doo of what he is doing and unless smith doesn’t play Jordon Rhodes will have a field day with our very average defensive capabilities

4-0 Blackpool is my guess. Crosby to survive and get till Feb when we sack him when we're finally bottom.
his contract doesn’t end until the end of the season and I don’t think they can afford to sack him as they’ve burnt their bridges on the ground

Smith, our best defender has been on the bench recently and has got to start. He might not be able to pass the ball 20 yards but he puts his body on the line every game and loves to defend. Balmer has been unlucky for us - he's got a mistake every game and more often than not, they've been costly.
In midfield, I've been really impressed with Devine in the last month or so, he's added grit and work-rate to his game and yesterday he was superb. We need to get him on the ball as much as possible as he has the spark. Garrity plays best when he's further forward and Chislett impacts the game more when he plays deeper. The question for me is who sits in the holding role in midfield - Ojo is a massive miss. I'd play Walters over Lowe even though he was poor yesterday as he has the legs we need.
Up front, I'd start Wilson if fit. I'd even start him injured. Loft shouldn't be anywhere near the team and Uche isn't a footballer.
Shorrock was fantastic yesterday and Lomax did well once he came on. They've shown they can play against good teams when we're struggling but I wouldn't start either on Friday I'd continue to use them as impact players.
I'd go:
Ripley
Debrah Smith Yak
Massey Grant
Walters
Devine Garrity Chislett
Wilson
If fit, I'd have Sang instead of Walters or maybe Massey but Massey has been much better lately.
Play from the back but hit Devine and Chislett as quickly as possible with Garrity supporting Wilson.
It says that sang was left out of the Wycombe match due to injury but Crosby will do same old same old as he doesn’t see what everybody else sees

This is the thread for discussions of the Port Vale game against Blackpool on Friday.
Share your thoughts before, during and after the game....
Crosby has to has to change his illogical tactics and realise we have to score goals so play Wilson to half time and if he’s tired substitute him if necessary and get at them as they have a top quality striker in Rhodes and if we defend from the start we will get punished like Barnsley until they switched off but we will just get the normal tippy, tappy nonsense as he really hasn’t got a clue what to do

A chance to move up to halfway in the league.
I would like to see Sang in the middle alongside Garrity. I feel MF is where the game will be won and lost and we need to stop service to their front 2.
Wilson and DiPepa give us options up front.
Ripley
Yak,Smith Debrah
Massey Grant,Sang,Garrity,
Alfie,Chizzy,Loft
I know WIlson can’t last a whole game and he is a class player but play him to half time and then substitute him and allow him to help get us in front and for once defend a lead but Friday isn’t going to be easy against Jordan Rhodes et al

They have an excellent away record and need to be treated with respect.
this is a difficult game against an on form team and currently we aren’t beating sides and the game against Middlesbrough we didn’t turn and we scratched a draw on Saturday and Cole is a very good player and they have a workmanlike midfield and without Ojo we need to bring back Conlon and need to have a positive attack minded attitude which Crosby never plays but I am glad Willo is back and hope Uzu can help but this a tough game against a team looking for promotion and I will be there to shout support as usual

Another match in a busy festive period for the Valiants - can they gain some measure of revenge from that opening day thrashing?
Post your pre/during/post match thoughts in here...
I was there at Barnsley and they played us off the park and we had no answers to their attack which took us apart and without Riply I thought it was going to be double figures
and I hope we defend much better this time as Cole is very, very quick and we need to score some goals before we start our normal tippy tippy football and Barnsley aren’t coming to sit and watch and then it’s Blackpool and I hope I am wrong but will be there for every match home and away as normal

I suspect that was partly due to being right not left footed. Most left footed players would have cut that cross off. I agree I think he's more a midfield player who can play right wingback.

I wouldn’t play Sang as during the Wigan match their right winger mcmanaman was all over him and was the reason for their goal and personally I just don’t rate him but play Conlon if Ochoa can’t play

I don’t dream but just live in hope that our manager understands that we start defending when we are winning but his tactics are to defend from kick off and I will be in the Bull’s head before kickoff and I have been supporting the club from 1965 not that that gives me any more importance than any other supporter and I worked for the club as Podiatrist for almost 40 years and I blame my dad (RIP) who had a barbers shop in Burslem for almost 70 years💕

I was so disappointed by Crosby’s substitutions the other night and I have felt for quite some time that his credentials as manager are at risk and Saturday is a massive game as are the matches. Barnsley and Blackpool are over the Christmas period as we slide down the division and forget the match against Middlesbrough which i cannot go to due to medical reasons but we need to win something very soon or I feel the worst and he has to be removed from his position mr no attack manager

The last time I felt so deflated at the end of the game was …….dare I say it the 4-4 with QPR.
Totally the managers fault last night. We had the game won until the disastrous double substitution after 63 mins. Taking off 2 offensive midfielders & disrupting the back 3 in one go - unreal. The back 3 had looked pretty solid all night then he brings on the Yak & pushes Lowe into midfield, so Olly & Alfie replaced by Walters & Lowe - what a negative move and we got what we deserved.
I have stopped believing Crosby B/S to justify poor substitutions, Massey felt his calf Alfie & Olly had knocks - don’t believe you Andy. Really poor tactical changes which cost us the game.
Agree with other posters that manager has a plan and follows it irrespective of what is happening in the game.
I don’t think he has a plan at all; when he made the substitutions I walked out and the result was what I expected and Crosby has to be replaced or he should resign before he gets us relegated
