Darren Moore - image Port Vale FC YouTube

Port Vale manager Darren Moore has suggested in a fans forum that some of the players under contract will not be at the club next season. Following relegation to League Two, the general view is that a major reset is required but with (to correct Moore) sixteen players under contract, the Valiants released just three […]

some like two goals loft and the awful Dan Jones have to be moved on to help clear the club debt to enable better players to come in and allow ikpaezo to leave

I didn't think Moore was the man for us based on what I've seen so far. I just felt he didn't "fit" the fans.

But I do feel much more encouraged after watching last night.

I've seen a different side to him.

Stern. Steely. Focused. Determined. Felt he had a real air of "I'm the boss, don't mess with me".

Clearly the nicey nice approach was to try and get a tune out of these dossers. Feel like that will change now and I'm all for it.

sadly I 100% agree but the biggest problem is the long contracts that a lot of players (loft, jones and others have) and the debt we have and his ridiculous five and a half years contract and we have no wriggle room to buy players and I fear the future

    He’s clearly not ready.

interesting to see the retained list but my worry is the long term contracts of loft, who is awful and likewise the awful jones who we just can’t get rid of and our finances meet we can’t buy any players and if we get relegated again and with the five year contract for Moore who has in my opinion had absolutely no impact on these players and if we don’t stay in division two we could be in real trouble

    Port Vale striker James Wilson

With the majority of the squad under contract, Port Vale have announced three players have been released. The trio are James Wilson, Gavin Massey and Jayson Leutwiler. Meanwhile, Lewis Cass, Deklan Wynne and Uche Ikpeazu are in talks about their future. There are sixteen players who are already under contract including summer additions Conor Grant […]

I am very sad for Wilson as he is a great player but never fit and goodbye Massey andleuwiler but how do we get rid of two goal loft? and the dreadful jones and time to buy alblaster as Sheffield united have been relegated

Have to admit I agree with this, however I’ve still not recovered from him missing that free header from 6 yards out on Saturday.  We need players who will regularly hit the back of the net when they’re presented with such clear cut chances.

in the retained list on facebook ikpaezo has been released as has Massey who’s contract was up but wait for tge news on here tomorrow

5pm surely 😂 knowing Vale it won’t even be this week 🤦‍♂️

I believe that Jones should be moved on like Massey and two goal loft and sang who is not a right back and lakouzeti and ikpaezo and the debate on smith who has been very average all season but Garrity and Ripley should stay and we need a breaker up in midfield to support Ojo and bring Cass back

I'll go with Mike Baggaley's marks thanks

a very disappointing season but Moore has a big job on his hands  of revitalising this side for next season and in my view Jones, Massey, Loft have to released and ikpaezo has to move on and his own team can then be judged but for me the jury is out on his ability as the side seemed to have accepted their fate before he arrived but it is time to prove me wrong but I will10% be there next season in respect of. Y dad who took me there for. Y first game against Wrexham in 1965

On the end of game boo them off stuff. I would say that the players are essentially not good enough overall, but a few are and can play at L1 level therefore being very good at L2 level. Players have got demoralised on occasions and that can appear like insufficient effort. Those players that are good enough and can contribute in future by being on the retained list should not be put off staying by a bad end of season scene. I hope the end of season is just the whimper it deserves.

I will be there but this has been a poor ND apathetic squad and some like two goals loft and jones need to be signed off and left as free agents and others like smith has been poor all season and robbing the club of a wage; time for some fresh blood but currently I don’t rate moor at all

  9. 30 minutes ago, TJHValiant said:

Not necessarily. Our ability to create those chances to score goals has been as poor as I can remember. Sang is awful at crossing and getting the ball into the box. Our biggest miss is Worrall who was good at that. I think Loft may have had more with him around.

how can we give two goal loft a contract as he is awful and his contract should be paid up and got rid of likewise to jones and sang and even smith and ojo have been awful all season

All loan deals have mid-season recall clauses as standard. Or are we expecting Premier League clubs to go "League Two Port Vale say they won't take out future captain on loan unless we remove the clause allows us to recall him after five months, better do as they say"?

The only way to ensure loan deals last an entire season is for the player to do well enough to play every week, but not well enough to warrant a move to a club in a higher division. That was nearly the case with Devine, but unfortunately Plymouth took a punt on him in January.

all loan deals can be recalled legally as the contract ownership and wages are payed by the contracting club in this case Sheffield United and can be recalled at their request

What club in their right mind is going to take a Ryan Loft or Conor Grant for example. If they aren't paid up no one will take them.

I agree pay up the contracts of Smith ojo, jones, loft and sang but Moore has had no impact whatsoever and it remains to be seen if he has tge ability to save us from another relegation which will create real problems

Posted this on the wrong thread earlier- Doh!

‘U’s fans at work are worried about Saturday- they’re assuming both Burton and Cheltenham will win and don’t think their team are up for it - a lucky draw last night with Lyle Taylor having an altercation with fans (told  them to f’off) a la Sammy Robinson for us at Accy last season - they reckon there are only 3 or 4 players worthy of the shirt (sound familiar?) and they don’t see us as a pushover - I put them straight about the qualities of our team and suggested the right thing (for both sets of fans) would be to play the game as a five-a-side 😉

Cheltenham won last night and burton play Fleetwood but I want Cambridge to win as I like James gibbons and wished he had stayed

DM needs to be given this season to sort this bunch of sihte out.  Either getting rid of them and building his own team or working with them over the close season and building their confidence back up, getting the silly mistakes out of them.  Bring in new players into key roles we need and then at the end of the Dec 24 if we are still sihte, then call for his head.

He has had fraudcroft poor 2 years of recruitment to deal with, the team was built for a certain formation - which we all knew would not work- apart from Carol and fraudcroft.  Not even God could get most of them to average non-league footballers, let alone league footballers.  🤣

Also see what the owners do backing him.

he needs to pay up the contracts on smith who has been very poor all season likewise ojo, loft..only two goals the awful jones and that lakouzeti and grant and refresh the team..if they have the money

Port Vale owner Carol Shanahan pictured in 2021

Port Vale chair Carol Shanahan has issued a statement which begins with a “heartfelt apology” and says she is “truly sorry” for the club’s relegation from League One. Shanahan also says she has faith in manager Darren Moore, that a full review of the season is underway and that communication with fans needs to improve. […]

I have re this thoroughly and whilst a accept carol’s apology feel it is time to clear the decks; pay off smith’s contract and release him as he has been very poor all season and release him; likewise with ojo, jones who is one of the worst left backs the club has ever had and Masset’s contract is up and don’t renew it as he doesn’t meat the standard and likewise with two goals loft pay up his contract and let him go and ikpaezo’s contract ends at the end of May and let him go as well maybe harsh but fair and release sang who is a midfielder not a riback and get Cass back for next season and completely  refresh the saua

Smith was player of the season last year, deservedly so and he has played well in the last 6 or so games. He is a good center back, just needs 2 decent defenders alongside him. He is not a wing back and he is no use at playing the ball out on the ground, that is why he needs better players next to him.

I think smith has been very poor all season and his contract should be paid up and released likewise with Ojo but Massey’s contract is up in May and he should definitely not be resigned, likewise with ikpaezo and pay up Jones’s contract and let him go like loft and sang

But they are <ovf censored> they are only in the team because we are so bad

It’s only my view obviously but please let Massey leave the club when his contract expires in May and Loft is clearly not for our club and has only scored two goals all season but who would want him; Bristol rovers were glad to get rid of him but can we please and Jones is awful so he can go like sang and lakozetti and grant and I think ikpaezo will move on and sad we won’t see Wilson again and for me smith can go as he has been very poor all season and I worry that Ripley and garretty may leave and the jury is out for me on Ojo as he do look interested after picking up an extended contract but we need a complete refresh

  17. not an effort on target time for a clear out; get rid of jones sang but nobody would have the awful loftand Massey’s contract is finished in May as is ikpaezo and please briback Cass from Stockport and smith has been poor all season and sitting on a lucracontract as is Ojo

    It's an inevitability.

Other teams seem to of had gritty gutsy efforts even if fallen short.

Other than beating 9 man Oxford have we once exceeded hopes with a real gutsy performance? I can't think of one.

Of all teams to send us down Bolton. A team I can't abide. Really fear a pasting which would be quite fitting.

Knowing us though it'll be 1-0 with no attempts on goal.

We're like a rotting carcass washed up on the beach.

Roll on 16.50 tomorrow when it's all over.

sadly I agree but I will be there next season in the hope we can rebuild the team and work towards staying in league two and look towards coming back
