  1. On the injury / recovery front, PV is much closer to Liverpool than Aberdeen. It should be easier to have a managed fitness programme using the resources of a Premier League club close at hand.
Geography is definitely your strong point Warren

  2. What worried me more than anything on Monday 1st half was the lack of fight, pride, passion considering :

the beating we had taken in the corresponding away fixture.

the fans reaction to the Wycombe result, both at the game and on social media afterwards.

the wish to actually win a football game and entertain the home crowd.

To me there is absolutely no way we should have to accept that as fans.

Another thing that worried me, and it seems to every home game at least, is the fact that almost every team seem to score with their first attempt at goal.

Monday was the first time I have really thought it's perhaps time for a change, if Andy Crosby cannot motivate these players to go out from the first whistle and perform on Friday then I don't think he ever will.

  3. I never quite understand this "we are bigger then X, or smaller than Y" mentality.

I'll happily admit that I can't argue that Man City, Chelsea, even Stoke and West Brom are bigger than us, nor that we are bigger than Aldershot, Torquay or, say Chester.

But the only relevance is our league position, teams in our league are, in my opinion no bigger or smaller than us, we are on an equal footing and merely competing against them for league points.

Some may have larger budgets and attract more fans, some less but they are ALL in this league for the same reason we are - that's the level we are all at.

I understand the opening post and agree with the basis of discussion, after nearly 50 years of supporting the club I've seen plenty of highs and more than enough lows and can assure anyone that the fare on offer at the moment may not be the best, but it's a transitional phase at the moment and as such that's why I think so many fans are frustrated.

We saw last Tuesday the gulf between lower league one and mid table Championship and let's be fair, Boro never really got into 3rd Gear neither.

Conversely we managed to get that far by being better than the teams we did beat - all below us in the league pyramid. This if nothing else is an indicator of exactly where we are.

I'm not for hanging Crosby out to dry, we are moving (slowly I'll admit) in the right direction, I think we can all see that we are one or two players short of a team capable of higher standing - I hope that in January we may well bring in the players that can push us on and I'm happy to wait and see.

Up the Vale, see you all there at 3.

  4. And its good at present - as everyone is in the Christmas spirit mood
Have a well earned Christmas break mate - then you can come back in the new year and it will all seem a lot less negative
Then again, thinking about it - perhaps best stay off forever - in fact im joining you

You can't leave both of you, the HCC AGM is set for mid February - who's going to chair the meeting and bring the Oatcakes ?

They don’t though do they Brian , maybe stick a pole on here ? I bet you 50 quid you lose any vote.

the noisiest maybe , the majority absolutely not. The same for most things in life. The nosiest are usually the most unhappy about most things. Cheer up BJ.

I've said it before and I'll say it again - "leave us Poles out of it" 😉

  6. Wycombe have drawn 4 and lost 5 in the League since their last League win which was early October.

Now we don't have any cup competitions to be concerned with it's our League position in May that's the objective.

We should be looking for 3 points on Saturday to put us in a much better state going into the Christmas/New Year fixtures.

I think it's time we started to play at least one of the strikers from the start so my starting 11 would be :

                                                    Ripley

                      Debrah                 Lowe                  Iacovitti

Massey     Chislet         Ojo (If Fit) or Walters   Devine   Grant

                                   Garrity              Loft

    Good luck lads, UTV

  7. Can sports science measure adrenaline and the desire to win? Can it
It should be a side dish, a compliment, not the main course. I would love hear what the late Brian Clough would have to say about it.
Can we do an on-line seance ?
  8. No nor does it matter we are 17th now. Not sure what the threads getting at.
Is it a badge of honour or something to be proud about ? Tomorrow we could maybe be 15th or 19th. Hopefully won't be another thread proclaiming either of those.
Correct, it doesn't matter where we are now.
I think the original post is trying to allude to the fact that at the moment we are (relatively) comfortable league position-wise and there's no need for all of this panic.....just my opinion on the original post.

That will be called game management.

We managed the game for 60 minutes, them for 30

Bad from Crosby and good from Evans to change it so that his team can get on top & back into it.

    Fair points, not disputing those.

If you think we have been playing well this season then maybe you should go to the opticians

The games I have watched we play some good football in my opinion, even without my glasses. We have also played some poor football at times and we certainly need to score more goals and concede less , hasn't stopped me enjoying my Saturdays/Tuesdays.

Again, where are we in the League table compared to Stevenage?

I'm not interested in where Stevenage are in the table, I 'm interested in where Port Vale are - are we in the relegation places - NO.

  10. "Plays exciting football" ? a bit like Crozball
I was at home in Germany.
It must have been exciting for them to come from 2-0 down to take into extra time. They must have been doing something right.
You were one of the very few at the game on Tuesday, how did Stevenage play from the 60th minute onwards?
It might have been exciting for the last 30 minutes for their fans, basically because we stopped playing and allowed them back into the game.
However if you think 30 minutes of "exciting" football after going 0-2 in the first 60 where your team was dire is better than us then perhaps you should alter your allegiance.

  11. Again, with everything I say on here I would be very much in the minority (probably on my own) but I would love see a Steve Evans being the next Vale manager.
He get's his teams promoted. He get's them fit, playing exciting football (see Tuesday night) and takes no prisoners.
We would easily finish in the top half of the table and maybe the top 6 with him at the helm.
He's one of those people that people hate him unless he's part of your team

    "Plays exciting football" ?
Didn't see much evidence of that in the first cup game and there wasn't much on Tuesday either, not sure what you saw Brian but you obviously can't have been sat near me at either game.
