What about the numerous sides above us?
I doubt any would be tempted, it's all relative isn't it. Do you really think I want relegation ?,
I want us to be winning the Champions League, Premier League, FA Cup on a regular basis but it's a bit like asking for World Peace, an end to Famine and Free Health Care for all.
And to be 'realistic', there may be quite a number of teams above us, but there are far more 'numerous' teams below us.
-
Ask a fan of, say, Hereford, Chester, Torquay or Oldham if they would swap places right now, I wonder what they would say.Don't apologise for being realistic. I guess we all need optimism to continue being PV fans, but 99% of us are realists! -

Dave has scoured the fjords of Scandinavia, looking for an iceman, a cold blooded killer to score the goals we need. But apparently he's given up as he found no-one who could contribute. Which probably means we had the next Erling Haarland in the building but he liked porn and happy slapping so Dave reckoned his values didn't align with ours.
In conclusion, we're dead
Not true, I have it on good authority that the Icelandic Striker Gunnar Skoorsoonsson is joining on a 3 year contract.

I heard a certain Mr Ainsworth has been seen lurking. Now I know this is in no way related to this thread or helps us with our current predicament, but there are rumours on the Oatcake that our stripey-eyed friends are about to or have sacked Schumacher. -

I turned off last night after the second goal, not because I thought Vale were crap, but because I thought that the EFL have shafted us. Port Vale were and are the only losers in the abandoned game fiasco.
Now I'm not saying we would have won the original game, I can't predict what may have happened, but I was fairly confident we were going to lose last night. The game should have been played to a conclusion, with those players that were there that day, either later that evening or on the Sunday both behind closed doors.
As to last nights game, I'm with Hoppers and co. I thought we looked far better tactically and effort and commitment were shown in good measure.
Having said that I fully understand Spunk Trumpets comments but I fully believe that we ALL KNOW full well that some of the players are not good enough, individually and collectively, we ALL KNOW recruitment has been a shambles, we ALL KNOW mistakes have been made and it's very likely we will get relegated.
However, we ARE NOT down yet and although I fully agree that it's a really difficult task, it's not yet mathematically a given, the team last night for 70 odd minutes looked far better than recent and we must believe we can get the points required, keep behind the lads.
It's no use keep harping on about X who's crap or Y who should never play for Vale again - for now, they are our players and we must give them all the encouragement we can, just as we are trying to do during each and every game.
The players aren't going anywhere else, any time soon, neither is our DOF and it doesn't look like new blood is coming in either so we have what we have.
IF we can get ourselves just one place out of the relegation zone I'm sure it will give everyone connected with the club a massive lift and who knows, maybe we can all breathe a little easier.
It's not good, it's not fun, it's a downright crap state of affairs but we have to keep believing until it's mathematically impossible to stay up.
What will be will be, I fully believe that Darren can turn us around, let's just hope he can do it this season, 15 games to go, 45 points on offer, let's start with 3 on Saturday.

Can't believe OG isn't even on the bench, never mind starting.

As unlikely as it might seem, a win tonight would be absolutely massive in shifting momentum:
- climb out of the relegation zone, pushing Charlton in and compounding the misery there as they haven't won in 15. A Jones meltdown becomes more likely. God Willing.
- 1 point behind both Shrewsbury and Reading with 2 games in hand on both, who I think are just as likely to go down as us
- 4 points from 15th ahead of 2 winnable home games in succession
- Garrity, Clark, Plant, and Gore all likely to be fit in the coming weeks
- 16 points needed from 15 games, which is not difficult.
Would completely transform the feeling around the club if we can rob a narrow victory.
Of course, there's a long way to go and defeat tonight doesn't condemn us - but it could be really, really important.
Correct Joe, a win tonight would be massive, a boost to everyone and with two home games to come a real chance to put some daylight between us and the bottom four.
One point regarding your second bullet point - we would be 1 point behind Reading with 3 games in hand, not 2 😀.

Can you watch on i-follow if there's a Premier league game on ?Surely hardly anyone will go to this match in the circumstances? Watch it on ifollow, at least the vale get some cash then. I think a completely empty away end sends a message to the efl. And b4 someone comments about supporting the team, big away followings haven't helped in the slightest recently. Might send a message to others at the same time? -
I wonder if Moore may recall Cass at some point ?
A big 'up' to any fans travelling tonight, especially any who went the abandoned game and are already out of pocket.
It's a pity the club couldn't see fit to offer free coach travel tonight, I know that would cost the club even more than they have already lost but it might have been seen as a genuine gesture to the VERY long-suffering fans
My team for tonight ;
4-1-3-2
Ripley
Cass
Smith
Lopata
Jones
Ojo
Sang
Garrity
Mighten
Loft
Own Goal.
Heart says 1-1, head says 3-0

If you watch the highlights Jones hardly gets his feet of the floorKnew Dan Jones would be blamed -
To be fair though Warren, the goal we conceded was terrible defending. We have now got a front two of Own Goal and Fantasy Goal. We should be safe in L1 with those two up front and especially if Ripley can lead a charmed life in goal. .
Loft misplaced a header back towards Grant who slipped and allowed the midfielder free rein to push onto our half.
A simple pass through Smiths legs and Lowe just watched as the winger slung over a deep cross where Jones allowed the 5'4" No10 to outjump him and plant a header into the bottom corner leaving Ripley rooted to the spot.
Darren wasn't happy ! -

I'm sure a certain proportion of our fan base that post on here want relegation purely so they can come on here and pontificate just how right they were and how "nobody listened".Love your optimism- 11

Aside from the toilets issue (which I'm told are being fixed in the summer), what else is "a crumbling, gigantic wreck" about the ground?
Every time I come these days I think how great it looks. The scoreboard, despite not having appropriate surrounding material, has filled that corner so well. The Lorne St stand looks very impressive and the new pitch combine to make it one of the best stadiums in the division.
There's plenty to be down on the owners about at present but the ground really isn't one of them in my opinion.
I'm not "down on the owners" regarding the ground, I'm sure they're doing what they can, when they can.- 1

Can anyone confirm that Dave Flitcroft was actually at Vale Park on Tuesday - maybe (just maybe) he was elsewhere scouting or indeed trying to sign a free transfer striker - who knows.
And whilst I'm at it, although I agree totally that the first team must come first, the infrastucture of the stadium has to meet certain standards for league one football and therefore, however much we may think otherwise, funds have to be made available to upkeep what we all know is a crumbling gigantic wreck of a stadium.
-
Our only hope this season is to rid the club of this shadow skulking chancer. Sometimes it can be hard to admit we are wrong however that is what Carol has to do to move the club forward.
If and only if, Flitcroft is relieved of his duties ASAP, do we have a chance of surviving in this league. The so called “system” needs to be abandoned in order to allow a new manager to take over and do whatever is necessary for us to survive.
Unfortunately without the likes of Garlick whose counsel does she seek? I think Rudgie is so out of touch these days, although I’m sure he would help to the best of his abilities.
We’re in a bit of a situation.
What makes you think Rudgie is so out of date ?
Perhaps he is right behind Flitcroft and what he is doing, who knows ?
Strange also that you ask without Garlick who's counsel does she keep, surely that's Flitcroft and if she trusts his counsel then that's up to her.
Perhaps a couple of statements from our two club presidents might smooth the waters, one way or another. -

You are completely off your head
One thing I know for certain
Crosby ain't no football manager
He's a defensive coach that's it 😆
If you care to look at the "who's who" section of the official Port Vale F.C. website it clearly states that Andy Crosby is the MANAGER of said Port Vale F.C., so what you appear to know "for certain" is, in fact incorrect - I think you need to wake up and smell the coffee 😉

Surely that's Oatcakes ?Sold out again eh? You would think they would have learned by now - selling like hot cakes...

Let's hope the photo is portrait and not landscapeThe clips look very good but what I'm really looking forward to seeing is a photo of our two new signings: Rhys Williams at 6'5' and Dan Gore at 5'7"- 2

Awful comment in my view, perhaps you'd rather have Smurf back ?Or down to Carol who will cash in every opportunity she gets.- 6

Surely doing business as cheaply as possible is good business, assuming of course that the business done is not detrimental to the business?Wouldn't be surprised to see a high paid player leaving and free loans coming in at all. All part of the process of doing things as cheaply as possible.- 1

If Uche goes I won't be too concerned as I assume we have a replacement lined up as well as another body due in as cover.
Plenty of twists and turns yet and it would be suicidal to allow one striker to leave without a replacement lined up.
Wages of course may be an issue and maybe, for all his gesticulating to the crowd, he's not a happy bunny - who knows. -
Warren - you and your Geography LessonsIf Charlton and Wycombe are interested in Uche, it makes geographical sense as he was born in Harrow and previously played for Wycombe. I suspect both clubs can pay higher wages than us. I have never quite worked out how Wycombe can do that. They have been in L1 / L2 this century with one season in the Championship.
Would I be concerned if we lost Uche. Yes, and especially to a L1 rival. Has he thought about Australia?- 1
