I didn't think I would be excited for this season but I'm really looking forward to it and seeing who we bring in. I hope the recruitment team will do a job this time.

All depends on what DM can actually do with the players he can brings in with the money available to him.  This is the joy of closed season - who will go, the players who will never come here, but there is a rumour we are about to sign them for mega bucks.  The forum is fun with rumours and that is what we all need when there is no football.  The wondering who is coming in and will they make the side better - well it wont be too hard after the past 2 seasons.

At least fraudcroft will not be stomping all over the recruitment team and telling them how it wants it. Then bringing in players who are totally wrong.

The thrill when we actually sign a decent striker (or two) who know how to score and where the goal area is  🤣

Didn't jailbird Lee Hughes have the same reputation before he came here (in 2013 season)

The Vale fans hated him, signed, then loved him.

    Feelings are fickle in football.

McKirdy and Hughes are different players.  McKirdy took the piss out of Vale and the fans.  Hughes didn't and as such won over (most of the fans) through hard work in a Vale shirt.

Think it will be more a case of players being told they are not in our plans, and to get yourself a move if you want to play games.  We would then subsidise an element of their wages for the remainder of their contract with us.  On that basis they may be a cheaper alternative than a free agent, as new club only paying a % of their wage.

As you say players are not going to walk away and receive less money than they are contracted for, and thus entitled to.

Depends on what clauses fraudcroft put in their contracts (if he did put any in) for the team being relegated.  Then their monthly robbed wage would be reduced to the new relegated amount and then compensation or as you say a % of the new relegated wage would be paid to them when they leave Vale and go off to rob another wage at another club.

But this is where some of our budget will probably go sorting out fraudcrofts phenomenal recruitment over the past 2 years.  😡

A sports journalist writing Vale could sign a player isn't really a transfer rumour, is it?

There is nothing to link him to us. It's just some guy arguing why we could be interested.

Only believe sports journalists when I see the player wearing the Vale shirt.  All the journalists do is hype the head lines.

You have to love this time of the season when we are linked with players who have probably only ever heard of the Vale from a news snippet, but its good enough for the journalists to say he is having advanced talks or a target of Vale. 🤣

You make it sound like it’s a possibility we will go up with our current players!

Not at all.  I said "without better players".

This squad needs over hauling and a lot of money spent on getting it sorted after 2 years of bad recruitment.

I thought it was a dreadful game. Very little football in it - lots of hoofball. Crewe were playing for pens for well over an hour. Both of their goals were rather fortunate.

They came with a game plan and it worked.  Still the shunters may mess it up at Wembley.

Next season is going to be hard one and not a given we will go up without better players.

One of the reasons I am in 2 minds to renew my season ticket or not is because of the strikers that we currently have at the club.  If Uche and Loft are going to be the 1st choice strikers next season in my opinion what's the point of going ?

The only way the club would be going is down with those up front.  Back up maybe and get a couple of new strikers in that know where the goal is.

Can't seem even DM would that be that stupid to only have them up front as first choice.

I grew up in Ball Green / Norton in the 70s and I don’t remember any of that going on. Few Stoke lads at Ball Green but they didn’t get any mither other than banter.

Down Burslem and in the park.  Not all the time, but you got used to avoiding groups in the distance.

    Are you kidding me .

I haven't being Stoke for years in fact last time I went brittannia Vale won 1-0 .

    Why they scumbags .

We live in the same area as them most of them I get on with doesn't mean I'm a supporter of them I'm not not in the slightest gotta admire the way they finished the season though fair play to them .

Vale need get there pride back doing that is by winning football matches well not lucky 1 attempts on target games actually 30 to 40 attempts each game.

Sounds like you never grew up then in the 70's around Burslem, where gangs went around and would stop kids and ask them what colour they supported.  Say the wrong colour you were either hit or said good choice.  Go for neither, you just ended up being hit.  You would scan the group for clues.  No knives or wooden poles, just a thump and they would move on to the next unexpecting kid.  Probably still goes on in some areas, just now they don't use fists anymore.

Going to watch Sjoke up their ground, we would park on Mitch car park and walk to the ground from the car.  The police instantly separated the 4 of us, even after seeing us all get out of the same car and laughing and joking.

A lot of the older people have been brought on that, so yes sjoke stayed up - oh well there is always next year they can come down 🤣.  They have always been the rich kids on the block and favoured by the council.  My family were sjoke fans and I was just the Vale fan, following the best team in my eyes.  Mates were sjoke fans and would have banter with them.  Don't condone the fighting between groups and will speak to sjoke fans just like any other fan-not their fault they chose the wrong team. 🤣

On holidays or away with work around the world would speak to them and have banter with them when they were wearing their red deck chair colours, by saying to them that reminds me I need to get some cleaning cloths and that shirt reminded me.  They would smile and say your a Vale fan and we would have a laugh and joke chatting to each other.  The way it should be fans getting on with each other.

Each season, you hoping they would go down and they do the same thing hoping Vale would go down.

  10. Willow - Good luck in finding your next club.  Shame you picked up injuries all the time for Vale, as I loved watching you when you were on the pitch.  Defenders and midfield opposition knew you were good and took chunks out of you to try and stop your runs, touches and flicks to Vale players.  Thank you for the memories.

But due to the injuries you became a luxury player Vale just could not accommodate due to the poor recruitment process over the 2 years.

The thought process is: We can’t afford anyone better and if you think Uche is bad, wait until you see who else we can attract.

It’s James Wilson last season all over again. We might let him go, but Uche will reappear in August, unfit, without a pre season, signing a desperate deal when we have nobody else.

The retained list says it all.  Another season of relegation battles are on the way - please prove me and others wrong for thinking this.  But hay Carol gets Community Award Div 2 for her mantle piece.  Then Conference Community Club Award.

With Leutwiler leaving could Moore link back up with David Stockdale? Just left York. Experienced head who probably wouldn't mind playing back up to Ripley.

That could work, a player/coach.  Leutwiler must be fed up with not getting game time and being able to show what he can do to other teams.

The retained list was a good chance to get rid of some of the players who have not shown any spirit - but no not the Vale - another mistake which I hope does not bite them when we go down next season with keeping them.  Same silly mistakes, not tackling players, not marking runners and just no fight in them.

Just hope that DM and Co have a plan for better players and they are demoted to squad water bottle carriers.

The rumours i saw crop up on social media yesterday is that Garrity could be on his way to Stockport and Chislett on his way to Charlton, lets hope if there is any truth in them at all(I am unsure myself) that they have deep pockets.

I also see someone seems to think that the retained list will be out tomorrow,my thoughts would be that it will certainly be out before the meet the manager on Thursday

Surprised its not out today.  Get all the ones on contracts in one conference room and then DM can say - you lot - not in my plans - find another club.  Then go to the other conference room - you lot don't have contracts and are not being kept on - find another club.  Then those not in either conference room - can be told you are in my plans and being kept on or those with contracts finishing - we are offering you new contracts and we want you to stay at the club.  🤣

Saves all the little individual chats with them.

So the 17 games where he managed to get a grand total of 11 points and 10 goals is irrelevant? It’s been dire. I can’t think of one positive from his time.

He’s going to get time clearly, jury is massively out for me though. Hopefully he can bring a lot of new faces in and show that he’s a decent manager.

Depends on the players he has come into.  They make individual mistakes during the game - he can't help that when they cross the line apart from you did this, don't, do this.  However, if they keep making those mistakes then not even the best manager can do anything with them.

Judge him this year and hopefully Carol will back him and he can rebuild his own squad.

No excuses for Vale, squad lacking in quality and unbalanced. Frustrating that Camb, Burton and Shrews are certainly no better but survived.

That is what happens if you actually sort out transfers in the Jan window.  You survive the drop.  Fraudcroft didn't and we paid the price.  Got what we deserved.

  16. Well we didn't lose the game.  Thank god the match is over.  Wonder if Houston listened to the full match or went back bed.  🤣

Bring on the close season and how DM builds next years squad.

Will Carol back him with finances or just cut the budget back again.  This side needs better players, players with fight and character, not the bottlers, wimpy players we currently have till the retained list comes out.
