Donnelly called up by Northern Ireland
Former Port Vale loanee Aaron Donnelly has earned a full call-up by the Northern Ireland International side. The defender played twenty times for the Valiants in what was his first regular taste of first-team football, last season. He has previously been capped at U21 level. Donnelly is one of three newcomers selected for the upcoming Euro 2024 qualifier double-header against Denmark and Kazakhstan.
Hussey leaves Stockport County after play-off defeat
Days after Chris Hussey played in Stockport County’s Wembley defeat to Carlisle Utd, the 34 year-old has announced that he has left the club. Writing on social media Hussey said: “We came so close yesterday but yet so far away. I have enjoyed my time at Stockport and made some great friends. However, my time has come to an end due to location and family commitments.”
Brisley joins Alfreton
33-year-old defender Shaun Brisley has been confirmed as a new signing by Alfreton Town. Brisley had been at Buxton where he won the Derbyshire FA County Cup last season.
Kay is signed by Runcorn Linnets
An even older veteran, 40 year-old Antony Kay has joined Runcorn Linnets. He joins the side from from JD Cymru Premier League club Bala Town.
Walker earns Wolves role
Yet another former Vale defender Richard Walker has been unveiled as the club’s new under-18s lead professional development phase coach. Walker had been employed within Stoke City’s youth set-up.
Rawlinson agrees new Notts County deal
Former Valiants stopper Connell Rawlinson has agreed a fresh two-year contract with newly promoted Notts County. “He was a key player for us in what proved to be one of the best seasons in our recent history,” the club said.
