NEWS DESK
The Valiants are buzzing after their impressive 2-1 home win over Forest Green Rovers.
With manager John Askey praising the attacking play and skipper Leon Legge praising the Vale support, things are looking up for the club.
After the surprise switch of Richie Bennett for Tom Pope, Vale are likely to stick with the new signing (pictured right) after he made it two goals in two games. Cristian Montano will be the side’s only doubt after he left the field with an injury on Tuesday. If he fails to make it, then substitute Ryan Lloyd is favourite to replace him.
MEETINGS
The Valiants are trailing Grimsby by 33 victories to 40 over the years. Last season Town did the double over Vale with a 1-0 win at Vale Park and a 2-0 victory at Grimsby. The last Port Vale player to score against Grimsby was David Worrall (pictured left) who netted in a 1-1 draw at Grimsby back in the 2018-2019 season.
It’s not an easy place to go to, but we’ll just keep doing what we’re doing, we’re starting well, we’re making it hard for teams whether it’s at home or away. There’s no let-up really, the team talk is basically just keep doing what you’re doing, don’t get complacent and just keep doing what you’re doing…

WATCHLIST
Grimsby have recruited two well-known lower league faces for this season. 31 year-old striker James Hanson is best known for an eight year spell with Bradford City. He has netted twice already this season. Meanwhile, Town also recruited powerful defender Luke Waterfall after his release from Shrewsbury Town. Waterfall has more than 400 senior appearances and is a powerful physical presence at six foot and two inches tall.
