Our new-look guide takes a look at the first-ever match between Port Vale and Salford City.
Despite the League Cup loss to Burton Albion, Port Vale coach Dave Kevan (right) insisted there was still positives to be taken from the performance. For this game, Kevan has said that Vale’s always impressive away following will be a boost to the players. However, one negative for the Valiants will be the loss of key midfielder Manny Oyeleke for up to a month.
Vale are expected to make changes after resting a couple of players for the Burton game. Tom Pope will almost certainly return upfront but John Askey will ponder whether to change formation and partner Pope with Mark Cullen, who scored his first goal for the club on Tuesday evening.
OLD BOY 1
The travelling Port Vale contingent are sure to give former goalkeeper Chris Neal a warm reception. Neal was seen as one of the club’s best keepers in recent years and he played a key part in the club’s memorable 2013 promotion campaign. He joined Salford City last season and was a regular as the club gained promotion to the Football League.
There’s a lot of hype about them and who owns them, but we just have to worry about ourselves We’ll just go there and take care of business, we’ll just worry about ourselves and hopefully we can give a good performance and take a positive result….
