  1. It's a stonking game and I think it's the first time the whole ninety minutes has been shown to an audience as it's only been available before on VHS (not on TV) so I hope you enjoy. It finished 1-1 at Vale Park - can the Valiants add another famous cup scalp at the Baseball Ground? The URL for the premiere at 7.30pm is -
  2. The latest game is from 1998. It features the likes of Gareth Ainsworth for Vale and Robin van der Laan for Barnsley. It premieres on YouTube on Monday at 7.30pm. The URL if you want to set a reminder is
  3. Port Vale are off to the Goldstone Ground for the final game of the 1993-94 season. Watch the entire 90 minutes on Monday evening from 7.30pm. The URL to go to will be - https://youtu.be/Fj-jkYSFmA0 You can also set yourself a reminder through the above URL.
  4. Monday's as-live full Port Vale game is the 1995 match between Port Vale and Tranmere Rovers. If you haven't seen it before, it's a good one! Please use this thread to discuss the game before, during and after the showing. The live URL to watch the game will also be posted on here at 7.30pm on Monday
  5. It's a "big" classic match replay on Monday as Vale take on rivals Stoke in an FA Cup replay in 1992. We'll have the whole 90 mins on our YouTube channel complete with the Sky Sports coverage of the game. Please use this thread to share your thoughts before, during and after the action. (the link will be posted on here when the game goes live at 7.30pm Monday)
  6. I suspect this one will be a dour match with no goals and little drama... tune in to the OVF YouTube channel at 7.30pm to find out. A link will be posted on here when it is live... NOTE: Sound quality on this one is NOT great due to the age and deterioration of the VHS tape
  7. So we're hours away from the full re-run of the 1996 FA Cup replay against Everton at Vale Park. So, that's the whole 90 minutes broadcast as live. It's showing on the OVF YouTube channel at 7.30pm. It will be a "premiere" performance so we'll all be watching it at the same point, at the same time. So please do come on here and share your thoughts as the game unfolds. Can't make it at 7.30pm tonight? After the premiere ends the whole thing will be available to watch on YouTube. Hope you're looking forward to it as much as I am...
  8. As you may have read here - https://www.onevalefan.co.uk/2020/04/classic-vale-game-watch-the-1993-autoglass-trophy-final-in-full-on-monday-evening/ - OVF is running the full 90 minutes of the Autoglass Trophy final this evening so I'm doing a match thread as we haven't had one for a while. Please feel free to discuss the match before, during and after the action. I think it will be especially nice to share a few thoughts after the footage has aired. I have obviously already watched it while I prepared the clip and it brought back a lot of memories of things I'd forgotten so I think there will be discussion of who played well, the atmosphere, the ref's performance and so on...
  9. . Surely our greatest ever challenge, Prem Champions for the last 2 seasons. Although we have taken FA Cup holders in our stride in the past, Man City are at a standard never attempted before, for many of the Vale their biggest crowd. Enjoy the day, raise our game, and make us proud. Hoping for a sensible score, miracles take a little longer. Hopefully we have avoided injuries against Macc. Motivation should not be a problem, awe and nerves more of a concern.
  10. First part of a home double header, a chance to firm up the POs with 6 points. L2 leading draw specialists meet 15 draws each, surely the time to do the bookies a favour with a resounding win. Tight game expected Crawley`s 4 games unbeaten against our 8. Hoping for a dry weather period to ease the strain of playing 2 home games together, also a chance of rotation of the players by Askey. Taylor @ Monty available? Time to start putting more chances away to establish our challenge. 3-1 to the Vale
  11. Another toughie, a 6 pointer, and hopeful of better weather. Pope back at some time, if not the start, to bring back memories of his hat-trick to unsettle their defence. Clarke back from suspension, different role for Monty, and options galore without upsetting the team cohesion. 7 games unbeaten for us, Cheltenham 5 wins on the trot since a defeat to Scunthorpe, so banker draw or a 2nd great win at Cheltenham for us. Maybe the chance of another meeting or two to come as well.
  12. 6 home games left, we need 4 wins and 2 draws to give us a PO chance with some away points as well. Just a 3 pointer, a continuation of excellent home form is required. Askey will be expecting nothing less, and revenge for a defeat at their place. A few tweaks, apart from any injuries, to contain or exploit the opposition, with plenty of options on the bench now available are to be expected. Hoping for decent weather, high press play, and 3 goals
  13. We are on our way up, but no easing up, keep the winning run going at the Saddlers, who are not to be taken lightly after they came back to win from 2-0 down against the Cobblers, whilst we were majestically sweeping Colchester aside. Selection decisions for Askey, keep the shirt after a rousing victory, or rotate a little. Gibbons in contention for his attacking skills? Another 3 goals please for SVA`s mighty presence.
  14. Welcome to all our returning mates about to see what they have been missing. Huge game, another 6-pointer, hopefully many more to follow. Let`s carry on with our winning momentum after 2 hard fought away wins.. Colchester unexpectedly lost last night, Vernam`s hat trick worth studying to see their weakness? A couple of reds, Pope and Clarke, at FGR means a shuffle, but at least we have options nowadays, first view of Oyeleke at VP this year as he gains match fitness. 3-1 to keep in the mix and move at least one place up, above Prosser`s Colchester, more if others slip up.
  15. After the super result at the Cobblers in difficult conditions, let`s firm up our PO challenge at Forest Green. Another 6-pointer although they have struggled to maintain their challenge recently. 4 home defeats on the trot could focus them, so not easy, but with plenty of choice in our ranks we should cope. Gibbons suspended for 2 games, Clarke to switch to the right? Amoo, if fit , and Taylor in with a chance? Minimum change is my preference. Vale to win by 2 goals? Easier on the nerves, but teams that can see out odd goal wins can take the pressure, so quite happy with 2-1.
  16. In a run of tough games for us, the Cobblers are undefeated for 7 league games, although with a cup replay at Derby in the week and Vale without a game the balance may tip in our favour. Will Monty be in contention, and Brisley injury free? Bit of a luxury in having options in spite of injuries, cameo appearance for Manny? Clarke`s return improving PO chances? If we are to get 4 points from the next 2 away games , FGR is the other, we need a draw here. 2-2 my forecast but hopeful of 3 points.
  17. Carry on with the magic, maybe wave the wand in the first half? The Exeter wonder show means the team picks itself, and feed well with confidence before KO. extra boosts again for Amoo and Bennett. Match fitness gains for Brisley and Conlon to show their worth, and competition to players currently injured. Plenty of newcomers, and an old face, in the Salford ranks but let us make sure they leave Fortress Vale with no points. 2-0 for the Vale, good a guess as any.
  18. Tough task with injuries mounting, Smith`s hamstring adding to Crookes, Oyeleke, and Taylor already under treatment , at least Pope should be available after suspension. It is also short notice for any possible loanees. Hardly ideal timing for the visit of 2nd place Exeter, unbeaten since early November in L2, to do anything we will have to pick ourselves up and turn up to do battle and pull ourselves together. If we do they are low scorers like ourselves with only 3 more goals than our 35. So a single goal could settle it, 0-0 more likely. Keep smiling.
  19. Tough game at the leaders, not a happy hunting ground, but a welcome return to our previous standards against the 0s, and with no mid-week game, should give us some hope. It is the start of a run of games against the stronger teams which could define our season. Assuming Montano has recovered, retain the same team and formation, thus giving Cullen a run, and let him seize his chance. Also continuity will make the formation more effective and the passing slicker, I assume we will have no major signings. Since Doyle their main striker has returned to the Bantams, a possible 2-2 score line or even sneak it?
  20. £5 off deal, but will the gate improve, Etihad buzz still about? Can we expect a good performance playing at home after 4 away games? Finally shake off the cup hang-over? Rise to the challenge of playing a lowly side? Alternative to Pope as a starting striker to save his legs? Lots of questions after the last 3 games. Steady progress to the end of the season looking upwards instead of down, lots to talk about in the stands since the last home game. Hopeful of a new face and a win.
  21. Grinding out wins at strugglers is just as important as matching the front runners. The absence of Taylor is a problem as is Manny`s but it gives Conlon a chance to settle in and get some match fitness in the meantime, also for Burgess to show his worth. After the Stevenage win, build up some momentum with the Morecambe and Orient games, for the Swindon challenge. No messing about 3 points are necessary, 3-1 to the Vale
  22. Interesting contrast with the Guardiola and Westley playing styles. But for us the real stakes are league points to push on. Westley`s niggly tactics have brought little reward since his mid - December re-appointment, hopefully his bounce will stay flat. Stevenage play at Bristol Rovers Wednesday night whether it will affect them who knows. Assuming, Amoo, Burgess, Legge, Pope, Taylor, and Worrall, are properly rested by not playing on Tuesday, and thus we are restored to our proper strength, let us emphasise our class and confidence evident at the Etihad. 3 points for the Vale please and concentrate on the league.
  23. Back to the mundane after the magnificent tussle with the champions, leaving us with tired legs and possible injuries, as well as wonderful memories and a boost to player confidence. Still a chance of Wembley on 2 fronts, and a £50k win bonus, but with a game at Stevenage to consider as well. Will Atkinson be available to play? Surely a few changes to be made to ease tired limbs
  24. Although Macc are a club in peril, they limited Forest Green to a single goal victory on Sunday. A different playing style from Swindon the leaders but 3 points are at stake just the same, hopefully we have recovered from our exertions and will grab the 3 points. 3-0 would be nice, although there are no easy games, but it would set us up for the Lord Mayor`s Show.
  25. Toughest league game of the season at Vale Park. They have won 14 to our 7, lost 5 to our 6, can we beat the odds? Unbeaten in the league since their loss to Crewe in October, 2 late goals decided it !!. How about it Vale? It would be a big confidence boost. Will Taylor be fit? Any injuries from Field Mill?
