To be clear, I don't want him. I just think it's the sort of signing we'll be after.

Yes not to sure on him myself,it looks like he has 7 appearances and 5 as sub this season, not sure if thats due to injury or not though

I'd have Gibbo back but only as an emergency thing till the end of the season. We have enough injured players on the books right now.

My preference would be to find someone from either lower leagues that we can buy and develop or a loan from Champ/Prem - if it's good enough for Plymouth to get promoted I'm all for it.

I think thats the clubs model anyway now,buy them who may improve and sell them on for profit

  3. Just to add to the names i put on here,i wasn't saying we should be signing them but yes i was saying they are in current form in league 2.

What i do find a little odd is people saying they are no better than league 2 or they doubt they can do it at our level or not proven at our level(i agree there) yet we were told by many that Garrity wouldn't even be a footballer and now we are talking of him being worth 750k or so. So all i am saying is who knows what a player is like until he plays for us,so i wont write anyone off and i would sooner us to try and sign players who are in current form no matter where they are from.... only my opinion though

  4. Regarding Garrity,he is on a 2 year deal with another season still to go,goal scoring midfielders especially in league one are sought after so this is why i said its if the club can hold out as they can name their price really as it stands now.

On a side note IF Garrity was to leave or anyone else for cash then i would like to see us try to tempt mk dons for attacking midfielder Dan Kemp and then maybe even try for striker Michael Mellon from Burnley(both these lads have shown they can do it at league 2 level), Lincoln could be tempted to do a deal for Freddie Draper(scoring for walsall in league 2).

I just think we are never going sign a proven league one striker at the moment,so for me the next best thing is to sign one scoring in league 2 or top end national league

  5. I think this window will now show the ambition of the club by seeing what calibre of player we are after or bring in

I think we all now fully expect Conlon and Cass to leave, then maybe Balmer and Thomas to go back, also whats happening with Jones,Walters could leave if rumours are true and there could then be a couple of shock ones i guess,so if several leave then it could be a busy window for us again

Perhaps a nice time to bring up my spreadsheet again

For what its worth, with the emergence of Shorrock I think we still need a wingback - ideally one that can play on both sides. If Balmer were to go back it would be good to get another left-sided centre back in and with Arblaster and probably Conlon going we need another centre-mid - probably an attacking one as Devine seems better in a deeper role (presuming he isn't being recalled). I don't think we need to replace Cass right now if he goes and I'd expect Thomas to be recalled so we will need a new striker. Would like to see someone with pace who can change a game.

4 incoming - Wingback, Left footed centre back, Attacking Midfielder and Striker

4 outgoing - Cass, Conlon, Arblaster, Thomas

Personally I think more than 4 could leave

Exactly. Will Ryder was brought in to develop the pathway from the academy to the first team and that's exactly what he's done. Anyone who's in any doubt should listen to his interview on the official Vale podcast - just inspiring. And the encouraging thing is we can expect to see more 🙂

I wonder if we have a big CB in the Academy 🙂   as well as those now getting in the squad we also have players like Bhua and Cousins and Brazier who are just on the edge of it,it really does look bright as long as we dont lose these young lads.

I am sure though like the lad who has gone Villa and the winger at Man City we will have sell on clauses in their deals as well which will also help us in the future should they move on

  8. With Wilson signing will that mean we now wont target an experienced striker(poacher)? I do think Thomas will go back which is a shame as i think he has something like 3 goals in 6 games but we will probably replace him with another young striker

I love the transfer windows as the rumours will now start coming in,is Gibbons still fit at Bristol Rovers,is he even playing games, could that still be on? wouldn't mind seeing a fit Gibbo and Clarke as the wing backs with the young lads as back up

….I’ll also add that our January recruitment must include more of the current squad….also someone needs to start the fund for the Ben Garrity statue…..

More importantly we need to fend off any interest in him which will surely come in January, clubs cry our for midfielders who can score.

Also are Lomax and Dipepa 17? if so i would be trying to get them on deals asap

I thought Blackpool played like we have been doing most of the time and we played like teams have been playing against us, clinical, if that makes sense.

How's Jordan Rhodes scored 15 goals playing for them?

Watching the match last night, I was listening to the Blackpool commentary which included Gary Bower. They were very very complementary about Shorrock, Lomax & Devine. They could not believe that Shorrock is only 16.

If Shorrock carries on playing as he is then there is no doubt clubs are going try to take him off us as we cant offer him a deal until he is 17(hope he hasn't got the same advisors as Walters),as soon as we can we need sign him up as he could end up worth a fair bit if he continues to develop as he is

Not gonna mention Smudge pal 🤷🏼‍♂️ had a good game last night, won some vital headers & topped it off with a goal. Welcome back captain 💪🏻 Yet you mention every other player on that pitch apart from your namesake Alfie & Smith. Your hate of him is really bizzare! Garrity did what he always does, chased around, got stuck in, brought us energy & bags a goal. Standard for Ben he was everywhere. Shorrock was rightly man of the match he was pure class last night. 16 years old & his full debut & had CJ Hamilton on toast

Smith was also his usual nuisance to the opposing striker which resulted  in a grapple on the floor where the number 9 clearly elbowed Smith, missed by the officials but it was clear in the Paddock. I really like Smith and he is exactly the type of defender you need when you go into battle

Even in victory some still find ways to temper it.

Weirdly when the 3rd went in to put it to bed I wondered if those who openly hoped we’d lose tonight were celebrating that goal and enjoying a good victory?

I honestly cannot understand anyone who wants us to lose who says they are a Vale fan

  13. I think we always knew Ollie would go back so no shock from me,clearly the best loan we have had in a very long time and far to good for League One imo.

The good thing i guess to come out of these loans(Ollie and Alfie) is that Sheff Utd and Tottenham could be open to ket us have other young players(do they have any of note?)

The best of luck to the lad anyway

Rumour I heard today is Conlon is going to 'Nam and Cass is off to Harrogate

I dont think it will be any surprise if Conlon ends up at Cheltenham as he was certainly unhappy with how DC was sacked,as for Cass it seems league 2 could be his level,so i wouldn't be upset if both left

There seems to be a hell of a lot of hype / PR being fed to the press about some of our academy players. I don’t know where it’s coming from and I’m not sure it will do them much good in the long run.

Maybe why Walters representatives think he deserves a bigger contract offer
