  1. 1,400+ Valiants tomorrow. I salute your dedication to the cause. Absolutely incredible support after the last 12 months - more than 20% of our average total home gate and I dare say more than 25% of our average home support.

  2. Players who are League One standard:

Garrity, Ripley, Wilson (but made of glass), Chislett.

Players who aren’t League One standard:

Smith, Ojo, Plant (but he’s never played in his position), Clark (never fit).

Players who aren’t League Two standard:

Loft, Debrah, Yak, Sang, Jones, Leutwiler

Players who aren’t NW Counties standard:

    Grant, Massey, Uche, Lowe

Can’t grade Dipepa, Shorrock and Walters because they should be playing with their own age groups. Haven’t included the loans albeit most are trending to the bottom two groups.

An utterly dreadful squad of “footballers”.

  3. Necessary, long overdue decision from the owners in the face of an overwhelming body of quite damning evidence over a 12m period.

Sadly it is likely too late for the season and we face the prospect of most of this squad being here next season as well.

I would also suggest that the final act of drawing a line under this sorry episode is for Carol to retract that ill-judged, ridiculous letter from just 7 weeks ago and acknowledge she got it horribly wrong.

Yeah but the academy has been terrible up until Flitcroft revolutionised it.  We never produced any home grown players. Ever.

The re-writing of history and claiming glory of other people's efforts really boils my piss.

Just wait for version 2 of Carol’s letter where our beloved Flicker’s objectives will magically have included getting a player called up to the England U17s but incredibly still nothing about first team results.

  5. Moore has been dealt an awful hand so it’s difficult to judge him this season.

But even so he has made absolutely no difference. In fact the form is probably worse.

  6. I wouldn’t let Flitcroft near the rebuild of the paddock bogs let alone a rebuild of the squad for next season.

Sadly we are lumbered with a significant number of this lot for another year thanks to him. Given that state of affairs the first priority next season will be staying in the Football League.

That's the thing, he's going nowhere.

Then as per my original post, you can count me out.

I think my first game was as a 4 or 5 year old coming up to 35 years ago. This is comfortably in the top 3 worst squads I can remember.

It is a completely dereliction of duty from the owners to not hold the man responsible to account. They have done some wonderful things for our football club. Appointing David Flitcroft is not one of them.

For those who are hoping that the Shanahans spend a load more of their money on the Vale, how would they do this? We'd still be stuck with only being able to spend 60ish % of income on the football side, wouldn't we? We can't even hope for some dodgy MCFC style OTT sponsorship deal now that Synectics is sold.

Whilst the SCMP rules theoretically limit spending, the definition of relevant turnover includes provision for cash and equity injections.

As such an owner can inject cash or equity, subject to the SCMP rules, and “inflate” the relevant turnover figure to fund higher player salaries. In the instance of cash, the rules require a guarantee that the amount injected is not repayable.

It is undoubtedly how some clubs in recent years have been able to compete way beyond their natural resource base.
