I thought we were terrible that night. I also thought Mansfield were decent, and probably the best side we've played against this season.

To be fair, we were.  Never turned up, paid them far too much  respect and made them look good. Best team we've played I'd have down as Rochdale.

No doubt Gibbo is the best player we have on current form and needs signing up pronto. Great thing is Gibbo 2.0, post hammy, looks a significant upgrade. Rather than going backwards after that kind of injury. Which often happens. Touch wood.

One thing said on the pod was that he looks better on the left. But Gibbo 2.0 has hardly played RB/RWB. Probably he can just do both equally well. Which is a major asset.

It was a great shout. They looked good against us that Tuesday night and have good players across the team. There's a couple of the more pre-season fancied teams now on a bit of a march!

Give it a rest with this teams out of position crap. After 16 games no one "is out of position".  Mansfield are poor. Are Oldham " out of position". Lazy excuse for us being  piss poor against poo teams.

Agree we didn’t play well… but as DC says when we run over a team, part of that is what about what we do to make the opposition look poor.

Mansfield had a bunch of players back from injury who had been out during their shocking run, they played well against us… or if you prefer, they clicked and played to their potential. They are a decent side.

Agree that we were lucky to get a point. But it’s a valid point that they are not a bottom 3 side by any stretch and on their day will beat some good teams in our league (like Tranmere 2-0 at the weekend).

No you are right, they were not crap. Colchester were crap. It's a close league. The only team we have played off the pitch is FGR.

It’s pretty obvious the meaning behind saying Mansfield are in a false position. Same with Bolton last year.

Mansfield will finish top 10 minimum.

If you prefer… Mansfield as a club are not performing to their potential but this won’t continue for long.

    Semantics I guess.

Only time will tell. Personally I thought we gave them too much respect in that game is all I am saying.  We didn't play well, we got a point.

I reckon it can be both. I think Mansfield surprised us a bit. With their poor form they were supposedly ripe for the picking. I didn’t think so. They have decent players across the pitch. It was an off night for Vale, but certainly some of that was down to how well they played.

I thought we were way too cautious and gave them the initiative from the off. Too much talk of them being in a false position. No  one is in a false position after 14 games. But we got a point, move on.

Yep we take that on board. It was a discussion we wanted to have. It didn’t think it came off as a massive criticism (that wasn’t the intention, and we did say he’s got some left foot) but it was something Jonny noted and wanted to discuss. Great point about the fact there are plenty of world class left footers that can’t use their right. One that was pointed out to us was Rivaldo who was decent enough 😂

Thought it was fair comment. He's got better. Credit to him.

Didn't see any pre season games but from what i've seen so far this year he is way off the pace. I'd consider loaning him out if he doesn't show some signs of improvement before xmas.

Martin came in with a lot of good reports from Exeter fans, but he's a few years older and has been playing in a relegated scottish team, he probably needs time to get used to being a L2 footballer again.

Benning, I don't know what the script is with him. Maybe he is unfit, but i do find that difficult to understand given he joined at the end of June so had a fair chunk of pre season with us. None of our other signings appear as lethargic (with the exception of maybe Wilson after 60 mins).

Johnson looked pretty good in one of the pre-season friendlies, can't remember which, when he had a lot of time. In the league games he's looked a bit slow in anticipation rather than slow slow.

Martin has been okay. Maybe not as commanding in the air as you might like from a bloke of his height.

Benning, a bit inconsistent. He's had his moments good and bad. Looks a bit like he's not quite worked out his role yet. Being up the pitch when he should be back and vice versa.

None are anywhere near a write-off yet.

Yes, that irks me. But at the time he was a far better choice as captain. Since then Conlon has emerged as a leader and so has taken the job. Not quite sure what point you’re making?

No one is perfect. Least of all footballers. I'm firmly in the Pope is in the past camp. Just that I don't think that this is a good stick to beat Pope with.  My point is if he gets sacked for that comment that he may or may not have meant as anti Semitic. To be replaced by  someone putting bonkers stuff out 24/7 on twitter seems a bit odd.

Neither are now, so a bit accademic.

I'm not having a go at him about it! Saying I found it a bit of a tragic image is more of a reflection on the <ovf censored> nature of the divorce rather than a criticism of TP.

Point taken mate, sorry for the misunderstanding.

  10. All opinions. Thought your Smith/Worrall bashing was way off. All our rubbish defending was down our left. Where Jonson had a 'mare and poor old Jones didn't know what to do,  his job or cover Johnson's balls ups. Three times we screwed up there in the first half. Could have been three, luckily they only scored one.

So I agree with Baggers, Smith was the best of the three.

Watched the DVR recording of Taylor vs Ramirez last night, first time I'd seen Taylor. He looks a big strong guy for a Light Welterweight, particularly his upper body,  his hands were too fast and he was too strong overall for Ramirez, beautiful uppercut in the 6th round to put Ramirez on the canvass.

Scoring was again questionable IMHO, all three judges scored it 114 to 112 for Taylor, considering Taylor put Ramirez on the canvass twice so without those knockdowns it would have been a draw.....kwakkers.

Yeah he is good, but not as good as that fight made him look. Ramirez looked like a total slob who hadn't trained since lock down and couldn't be bothered. Bit of a Ruiz job second time round vs Ant.

Credit to Taylor, job done. Will be interesting to see where he goes next in a weak division. Don't rate him as much more than above average, but fair play to the guy, he's done the bizz.

The card was about right, when you factor in the Vegas factor. Any foreign fighter starts at least a round down.

  12. Well Taylor did the job, but Ramirez looked so far off it.  Only half fit at best.  Pyric victory for Taylor who looked bang average mostly.  Him getting all those belts just shows how poor that division is at the moment.

  13. Thought Derek got done there. Parker must be one of the most limited, boring, lucky boxers to have ever got any kind of billing.  Ridiculous. Where do they get these judges from? NZ?

Frampton retires after losing to Herring tonight.

Sad to see him go out like that. Fighting in a dark and depressing room on channel 5

Frampton, very good but not great.  Not good enough to overcome the size advantage tonight. Also pre-fight his heart didn't seem in it to be honest.

Good decision to retire. Let's hope he stays that way. His time has gone. Hopefully he has enough cash in the bank.

I'm sick and tired about hearing the Joshua-Fury fight being agreed now. I'll believe it when both boxers are in the ring together

Been over 3 years of this saga. Too much money and greed from the promotions

Agreed. They all say they want to "get it on".  Well do it! It's not like Tyson and Josh are going to die of starvation based on the split. Eddie Hearn is after filling his pockets here. He is a right  empire building twerp. It will end up a blood money fight in Saudi, Qatar, Yemen. You name it.

Whoever stumps up the most cash. Boxing has always been this way. They do not give a flying about "the fans".

TV deals, state subsidy, $$$$$ is all that matters.

Good fight back for Dillon. Ruiz-Wilder next?

That would be a good one. But I think, could be wrong, that Dillion is mandatory now after Fury/Josh x2? Ruiz and Wilder are yesterday's men for me. Fury, Josh is where it is at.
