  1. Over the moon with that today. So relieved tbh.   Full credit to all concerned.   At least there is no way the players aren't playing for the manager.    Tuesday could be an historic night, get thesens up to the park.  So, where did the rumours that Oli, Alfie and Gav were out injured come from?  Thank God they weren't.  What on earth has happened to Gav, and Loft to some extent?

Just saw some of the highlights.

Blimey the Blaster was busy wasn't he ? Some beautiful passes today from him

Even in some of our worse performances he always tends to stand out.

I can really see him playing in the Premier league. Sooner than later unfortunately for us

But what a top top player . I give Crosby stick for a lot of things but getting airblaster and Devine on loan was a great move

Think Wilder coming makes it less likely Oli is thrown in this year myself.  But can see them both being recalled and loaned out to Championship.  Please not stoke.  Hope I'm wrong and they complete the season

You can’t go if you’ve not registered on the Vale website or if you work and can’t get to Burslem you’re bolloxed.

I presume thus club protocol to stop boro fans getting in the home ends. You would think we could find a way around it though.  Eg a friend or relative pick up the ticket beforehand

  4. Someone joked that all this following of the science is like the covid pandemic/enquiry.  It got me thinking,  it is ver y much like it. The scientists had differing views on what to do at certain times, but all of them were only concerned with controlling the pandemic.  The government had to look at an even bigger picture,  eg  the economy, what the public would accept etc.

Here we have the sports scientist,  1 might say 45 minutes,  another might say 60 minutes,   their opinion/advice.  They are only concerned with the player and the likelihood that he will break down.  The manager should be looking at the bigger picture of the clubs needs.

Obviously the advice should be taken on board certainly,  but it shouldn't be set in stone

A tight calf so AC said post match, and so was Oli and Alfie both at the same time hence them both being subbed at the same time. All 3 looked fine before the subs, but hey ho got to trust the science. Smells a little bit bs,y to me.

I share your cynicism.  Another scenario has grant can play 45 minutes,  so he comes on for Massey.  As it goes to extra time  , grant has to come off, time up. Incredible coincidence that oli and Alfie have to come off at the exact same time with injuries?  Science said 60 minutes?  I think someone joked they expected a guy with a laptop to run on b4 extra time and say, " computer says no, we concede, we can't do extra time "   an incredibly important game, potentially cost the club up to a million IF we were to beat maidstone and IF ( yes, I know) got a big draw .. I would have expected the manager to think, balls to this, this is my career on the line, as well as vales future,  they are staying on a bit longer.

I get Warren's comments te Newcastle,  but they have been decimated with injuries and have a super high pressure schedule.  They are draining late in games, understandably.   Do we actually only have 4 injured currently? Jones, Wilson,  Thomas and Clark  I've probably forgotten some?  If it is only 4, that is probably less than other clubs? All clubs have injuries/ suspensions.

I agree, Crosby's comments had the pungent smell of BS.  Perhaps doing him no favours there,  but he didn't do himself any either imho

They are supposed to be looking at Dean Smith.

I hope Agent Smith remembers his fifteen appearances for the Valiants and knows what he has to do...

I read 1 article on the red button saying that they had approached DS, another saying that he had signed a multi year contract with a MLS club, Charlotte?

I can understand this view, but the reality is, it’s this or nothing.

Like it or not we’ve got to face the fact it’s not profitable for reach plc to employ someone to solely cover the vale. We aren’t a big club. Local journalism is struggling so they’ll be cutting costs where they can.

    So, there’s two options:

    1. Don’t employ someone to specifically cover vale. Include pretty basic match reports (maybe even provided by the club) along with a real barebones coverage, but this is provided in the paper/on the website.

    2. Use their current model where we have a dedicated Port Vale journalist, writing 3/4 high quality articles a week - for £10 a year.

Personally it’s a no brainer to me and I’d go for the second every time, but like I said I do understand the frustrations behind having no free coverage.

It's only £10 this year though isn't it? To entice you, sure it was £40 next season.  And no doubt increasing every year

I hope you're right. I'm sure all the people who wanted cheaper tickets for youngsters will follow through and buy loads.

I think the whole subject of pricing for cup games needs looking at.

Clearly dropping prices does not encourage higher attendances,  or at least not enough.  Fleetwood 2700, burton 4000+.     Why are prices considerably less than fir the league games against the same opponents?

Look at the home support for burton in the replay.

Surely a QF against a good championship side should have been a premium match.

My feelings are that if folk want to go then they will and the club has missed a lot of income this season

The league trophy competition is somewhat different,  severely weakened sides are selected,  so reduced prices are justified.

It will be embarrassing if we don't sell out for Boro, particularly after backing down and reducing junior prices.

I'm sure I read that they charge 32 for their home games, so I wouldn't have thought they were pushing for low prices.

According to the club's ticket update on Thursday, the priority is:

    • 14th November – Season Ticket Holders (Who can purchase additional for friends and family)
    • 21st November – General Sale (With Season Tickets reserved)
    • 5th December – Season Tickets Released to General Sale

This is hardly a case of "whatever the club puts in place, some fans will be unhappy."

This is a membership scheme being advertised as offering priority access to tickets for all in-demand fixtures. The club have taken people's money on that basis then announced ticket sales arrangements for the quarter final with 1876 members getting no priority at all.

Aar, right. As I said, it was a genuine question,  which you have answered. Also, as I  said,  there is enough time for a members period.  Strange. I was a member last season so I can see why you are annoyed.  I wasn't criticising,   I guess as the saying goes, you can't please all the people all the time.  I suppose some ST holders might say they want their partner there to witness a potentially historic moment with them, if it was 1 ticket per ST.  Bottom line is the ridiculous capacity restrictions have come to bite us, with 20000ish seats, there shouldn't really be any problems at all.

At a guess, if every season ticket holder brought just 1 extra ticket on top of their own, then Vales capacity would sell out before it reached membership sales or general public sales

In that scenario you are right. But to counter that our 3 ST's will probably take 2 seats for this game as opposed to 6.  Will start to see next week I suppose

  12. Sorry, genuine question,  have the club said that it will go straight from ST's to general sale?  Long time until the game, should be time to include a time frame for members surely?  The trouble is that our severely restricted capacity will cause us problems now.  I suspect whatever the club puts in place, some fans will be unhappy and complaining.   In fact, thinking about it,   was it ever any different when the odd big game comes along?     Also, not sure how, if a ST holder buys an extra seat, how they will be sitting together?   If it's allocated seating,  I would say get there early, it could get messy!

  13. It's a no from me.

Gave up on that website months ago, haven't missed it one bit.  Anything important will be on this wonderful site anyway.

Not sure on their logic anyway.  I used to have a nosy on stokes pages, and we know stoke fans did likewise cos they leave comments.

I wouldn't just on principle.  They tempt you with a tenner, presumably thinking what's a tenner, but dud I read it's 40 thereafter? And that will increase obviously

Conte gone from Tottenham. Think that one has been coming since the start of the season. Another of those clubs who appoint managers who succeed elsewhere but never get the trophies with them, bit too much of a coincidence really. Thought that rant of his the other week was pretty much spot on to be fair but obviously that was the final nail.

Absolutely no surprise that one, after that rant. You can't have that going on within a club.  Totally burnt his bridges with owner and players. And took no responsibility himself either.

Think they will go for the guy Bayern sacked myself.

    Vieira sacked, surprising

Not really.  They have seemed to be safe, mid table all season,  but are on a terrible run and are now just 3 points clear of relegation,  with a lot of teams below them improving.

    Relegation costs, what, 120 million?

You just cannot leave things and hope for the best. Might work, might not,  but you have to ( be seen to) try to do something.
