This is up there with our published list of individual referee mistakes a few seasons back
I can understand their anger though. Var seems to go against the same clubs match after match. Wolves have similarly suffered. The liverpool game ( ref gave the ball to liverpool when forest were in possession), ivan toney moving the ball for that free kick etc. One of those penalties was a stonewaller. When you are fighting like hell against relegation ( unlike us), it must make you as mad as hell. Absolute incompetence

Ask Coventry fans about VAR

Don't think Coventry can complain about var. Their " goal" WAS offside, narrowly, but offside. The handball for the equaliser was much more subjective. Almost identical to the forest incident , which wasn't given . If the 2 referee's had given opposite decisions, I don't think var would have overturned those decisions. Obviously Coventry aren't used to var and would have won without it, but they knew it would be used. If the offside goal would have stood, would that be right, would there have been an outcry? I suspect not because the opposition was Manchester United.

Great shout. Hope he gets it.
Would be an indicative reflection on the rest of the squad.
That was my first thought, but on reflection, I think that would be very disrespectful to Ben and Chis, who both got double figures from midfield in a very poor team. Chis also got ( I think) 7 assists. If only we had 1 striker who could match those figures.

Personally I dont think we will make the mistake in this window of not bringing in a decent striker
I've thought that for the last 3 windows!!! Got to be right one day, hopefully

He was right though, we DID need to be the fittest club in the league. Unfortunately we were probably the unfittest.

No, you're not saying we played a player out of position surely? Lol. We never do that

Very well done to Carol and to everyone at the club who has made this a reality.
EFL Community Project of the Season - 2024
In League One, Port Vale is recognised for the Club’s Community Cupboard and Lounge initiative, which has supported over 6,000 people in the last 12 months with cost-of-living challenges.
Sorry mate, past caring about this. Was proud of it at one stage, embarrassing now. Port vale FOOTBALL CLUB

I agree. I think you’re right. Certainly no way does a Crosby team 2-0 on Saturday lose 4-2 either. I just can’t imagine that.
2 nil up v stevenage in the cup and lost. Not 4 2, but lost, cost us mega bucks.
Will never know re Crosby, but I do think the players were fighting for him.
Real culprit, well we all know the answer to that one. The January transfer window was just unreal

I was under the impression that was paid for with an interest free loan from a rich vale fan.
That was the scoreboard, not the pitch. But the capital costs still have to be repaid every month
Pitch was that bad , it simply had to get sorted.

Tranmere mate tells me the Blue One is rumoured to have put £1.5 M into the club to cover their losses. I told him to be afraid, very afraid.
I've no knowledge, but why would he have put that amount in without control of the club? Doesnt make sense. If he is after them, I agree, that would be a disaster for a decent club. Would the EFL allow him to own another club after the disgraceful way he acted with us? Who knows with that shower of <ovf censored>

No love for Flitcroft here but the idea he has an impact on the coaching of the team on a match day is just nonsense.
I think that's right, I just wonder about the players reactions. There seemed almost an anger from some when Crosby went, as if to say it's not him that should have gone. There did appear a distinct lack of fight, unlike now. So from that way of looking at it, it could be partly down to him belatedly going.
Doing much better now, just hamstrung by the lack of quality up front. With a decent striker, it would have been 6 points , but 1, from the last 2 games.
Still struggling to get my head around 6 games v shrews, Cheltenham and Fleetwood, bringing just 1 point. 2 wins, 2 draws and 2 defeats would have seen us nearly in mid table. Shocking really. 3 sides in the bottom 6, excluding us

What lower league club would take that financial risk !!!!!!
Well, I did say national league or L2.
I don't know what the financial risk is as I'm not privy to Wilson's contract details. I'd assumed that as he was released and had not got fixed up, we negotiated a more realistic deal, along the lines of a low basic wage along with a higher play/ goals bonus? Could be wrong because, as I said , I have no information whatsoever as to his contract details.
Some sublime moments off him, but I think this ship has sailed now personally

Gifted player who unfortunately is injury prone. Get a proper job with some Part time/semi professional football congleton Newcastle town, kidsgrove athletic etc
Surely he will get fixed up at national league level, if not L2?

Carlisle, Fleetwood and Burton will be relegated.
Cheltenham will win loads of their games and we won't finish above them.
We will therefore need to finish above Cambridge OR Shrewsbury.
On on.
I think that's spot on, except Shrewsbury already have 45 points and only need 1 win. It's us or Cambridge I feel. I have a horrible feeling some of those ridiculous dropped points, e.g. Fleetwood will do for us in the end, sadly. Hope to God I'm wrong

Well yes, but the point I was making that if Reading get points reductions, which they very likely will the sanctions as I understand it would be 15 points this time, so they would be doomed. Although yes, absolutely we don’t want to be 4th bottom! 😀
How sure are we on this? I seem to remember the last default the EFL didn't deduct any points, said it would be unfair??, and fined the owner - who no doubt didn't pay

On 31 December 2022, Vale were 9th in League One. At the end of the season, they were 18th. So what happened in between? Well, the great 're-structuring' of the club took place. Colin Garlick, CEO, was sacked in March 2023, Darrell Clarke, team manager, was sacked in April 2023, and Steve Speed, head groundsman, had already 'agreed' to leave the club at the end of the season. All been downhill since then. Any link between the club's re-structuring and the team's continuing demise? Well . . . ?
Good points, but I think the " restructuring " of the budget In January 2023, ie deciding not spend/improve and wait for the summer had more affect. Coupled with the unfortunate events around DC. God how we have missed him!!

There’s no argument you rose tinted buffoon. This is the man who threatened to bankrupt the club I love. Have you no memory? Can’t you remember him saying he would bankrupt the club, destroy Port Vale.
There’s a massive difference between a woeful season and having no club.
That man was the dirtiest, greediest, most disingenuous person ever to turn left up Hamil Road.
Are you for real?……..counteract your argument my arse.
He's on a wind up mate. Ignore

But he did do a fantastic job there didn't he. Even you, with your hatred, surely must admit that. From the position they were in, when he took, to take it to the 90th minute of the last match was a real achievement. And their fans saw a team fighting, a team to be proud of - unlike us.
Not that you will admit that, lol. Haters always hate
