  1. It'll all work out. If you know your seat is reserved until 5th Dec and you get paid last day of the month, why get your ticket before if money is tight. The club are happy with sales so far, they expect there to be spikes in sales, pay day, closer to the 5th. If that transpires then we'll potentially be edging closer to 10k home fans with 2 or 3 weeks to spare. Bit of an unknown at the moment, is how many ST holders have bought tickets elsewhere.

If you look at it simply, you could easily conclude hardly any ST holders have bought there's yet. 11k home tickets in total. Sold 6k, only a few hundred currently showing as available, so if there's 5k left to be sold it would make you think hardly any of our 5k ST holders have purchased yet, which surely isn't the case.

4 weeks to go? It isn’t a bad number at all. I reckon it will be about an 11k attendance. Which is basically a typical full house of Vale fans amongst those who will go to a big game.

The only way we will get much bigger is a top 4 Prem side at home or Stoke. Remember how poor our FA cup tie attendance against Brentford was?

The overall capacity is 14k, 11k home fans.

Brentford in the 3rd round is nothing compared to a quarter final.

If we don't sell this out despite cutting the prices for kids, I'd be disappointed for Carol. And she may well wonder what is the realistic scope of our support if we can't shift a pretty modest number of tickets for a game of this magnitude.

Completely agree. I think the players deserve it too. If we don't sell out such a huge game, I'd be massively disappointed with our fan base, and pretty embarrassed too.

It's not happened yet though, let's see what happens in the next few weeks. Still hopeful given how long there is left.

How come there seems to be much fewer that 5000-6000 empty seats available on the website? Are those images on the seat selection totally unrepresentative of tickets sold?

Season tickets are reserved until 5th Dec, so the seat is greyed out at the moment but not necessarily sold yet. Unless a lot of tickets go between now and the 5th, expect a approx 5,000 of those seats currently grey to turn green.

  5. At first I was disappointed bit the game is still 4 weeks away and Matt Hancock is right, there will be spikes still to come. Pay day for a lot of people next week, then there's ST holders that are safe in the knowledge their seat is secured until the 5th, so no rush for them. This is Vale we're talking about, a lot of our fans leave everything last minute. With all that in mind, 6k isn't terrible. We have 4 weeks shift another 5k, which is more than achievable.

  6. Real shame seeing all these comments about returning to the Railway. I don't get this perception it's had a negative impact on the atmosphere. It was rubbish before this season, yet it's turned into this myth that the Railway was brilliant. It wasn't. Last season we rarely sang, and when we did, no one heard us. This season we rarely sing, but when we do it's much louder. I can vouch having sat in the posh seats so have been able to compare.

Personally just think it needs time for the Hamil to establish itself. It's trying to be too many things at the moment. A singing area, a family stand, a haven for Bycars regulars. Too many people with differing requirements and expectations. For me, it needs to be the end where the atmosphere is generated. Not a family stand, not the place to get the best view of the game, you go there to support the team. If you're in there this season and not singing, you can't complain about the atmosphere. Sing more.

Two seats left in the Paddock, about 100 in the Lorne Street and about 300 in the Hamil.

We'll see what happens once ST seats not sold are released on 5th December. Hope sales are going as you say though. Fingers crossed makes the club put more facilities in place to increase capacity in the paddock.

The 2 blocks of the Hamil nearest to the Railway Paddock seem to be "unavailable" for this match.

They'll be open on the night regardless. They appear as grey at the moment but the last few home games they've not even been showing for sale at all, yet there's been no netting preventing people from sitting there.

Just logged on to get my ticket (gave up last week) as a member in Railway stand and can't believe our regular seats have gone plus nearly all of the block. Have season ticket holders been able to buy more than one ticket?

Yes they have, but as a member you're not guaranteed your regular seat anyway. Tickets only became available to members at 6pm Friday.

Sounds like your 1876 membership is not correctly linked to your account mate - so it thinks you are not eligible to book.

Not that. It's across the board for all members. Mine has been linked and working fine all last season and this one too. It's just not working basically.

If your other ticket holders are not also 1876 members it will not let you book them.  Even if they are members and they are not allocated correctly to your account it will not let you book them.

I've not got anyone connected to my account. 1876 member, can't buy any tickets. Shambles.

i fancy us at home against boro to be honest mate! league form needs to pick up regardless but i think the crowd can play a massive part in the cup tie

Said this a few pages ago before the ticket release schedule took over. We need to look at ways of getting Vale Park bouncing for that match, for most matches actually.

I like all the new songs with quite a few clever lyrics, but they just don't catch on at Vale unless they're really basic. I really like the idea of the Hamil and the Railway taking it in turns to sing Andy Crosby's black and white army, drop the PVFC as it ruins the song, it makes people race through it too quick. The two stands alternating that line would sound brilliant if everyone joined in, could last ages, and it's really straightforward.

I believe the same. With the Hamil change there's approx 9800 sellable home seats and I think the bycars for away fans was capped at 3200. (If my memory from the play off match is right)

For Swindon it was restricted to 2,200 to reciprocate what they gave us. Now it's restricted to 3,200, Derby have just sold out that many.

Got to be Health and Safety issues, can't believe it's just about the toilet block. It's the mystery behind it all that starts rumours. If it was just about the lack of toilets I'm sure season ticket holders would be stopped from sitting there every week

I don't see what else it could be, unless you think the toilet roof didn't fall in? More fans were allowed in v Carlisle, then I think it was just before the Northampton game it happened, so numbers were reduced. There will be a max number per available facility, or equivalent ratio.

Don't think anything is being hidden. I think the club are putting tickets on sale this early for precisely the reason I've said, so they have time to monitor sales and decide if the current capacity is sufficient or if there's the demand for more. I just really hope fans don't leave it last minute. Wouldn't be surprised if there's a late surge and we sell out with days to spare, leaving some fans disappointed as there's no time for the club to increase capacity.

I e-mailed Vale on Friday to ask the same question as FST as I'm in the same boat(plus live 30 odd miles away). Not had a reply yet btw.   I'm happy for people with STs and loads of points to have some priority but free reign and 1876 members not mentioned before general sale doesn't seem fair.

Exactly, like I've said before I'm not even that fussed about ST holders being able to get additional tickets. Think +1 is fairer, but choose your battles, accept it and move on. Being completely ignored / forgotten is unacceptable.
