Didn’t Wilf Kirkham finish playing because he had stepped up to being a head teacher and the Education Authorities wouldn’t let him combine this new role with playing football. How many more goals would he have scored if he had been full time rather than part time.

What an amazing set of stats for all those great players I think what makes it even more incredible is when you sonsider the type of ball the condition of some of those pitches and the physical side of the game then I wonder how some of the forwards today would have fared

He was my Headmaster teacher at Mill Hill for four years. I was the center forward for our team and at the time I never knew he had been the football player. He used to take a great interest in me and I thought it was because he liked me. Now I know it’s because he was a center forward and he was just trying to fix my errors.
