Rumours circulating on Twitter suggest that League Two newcomers Notts County are preparing a bid for Port Vale captain Tom Conlon.
Note: this is a rumour. There’s been no official confirmation by either club at time of publication. It should be treated with a pinch of salt.
County have already added Valiants goalkeeper Aidan Stone to their squad. There has been no indication of any move by either club, but tweets such as the one below have been circulating on social media:

Conlon is the current captain at Vale Park. He suffered a long-term injury during Vale’s promotion season in 2021-22 but made a recovery to return to the side. However, with increased competition in central midfield due to the signings of Jason Lowe, Tom Sang, Conor Grant and Ethan Chislett he may find it harder to nail down a starting place this season.
Conlon was a deserved Port Vale player of the year in 2021 as he scored ten goals in all competitions. He subsequently agreed a contract extension until 2024. However, it remains to be seen how prominently in Andy Crosby’s plans after the player himself admitted that last season’s form was poor telling the media that “I am under no illusions that I need to get back to my best.”
Signed by former manager Neil Aspin in 2018 after a successful trial, Conlon has made 179 appearances for the Valiants scoring 19 times.
