Left-sided defender or midfielder Jack Shorrock became the youngest player in the history of Port Vale FC when he came on as a sub during Port Vale’s 4-0 Football League Trophy win over Shrewsbury Town in September 2022.
Shorrock, a youth teamer at the club, was aged just 15 years and 145 days when he made his first-team debut.
He later made his Football League debut, at the age of just 16, when he came on as a sub against Plymouth Argyle on the closing game of the 2022-23 season.
Shorrock was regularly involved in the first-team during the 2023-24 season. He was handed his full debut for a Football League Cup clash against Crewe Alexandra in August 2023. He then became the club’s youngest-ever goal scorer when he netted in a 3-2 defeat against Barnsley on Boxing Day 2023 and he was handed his full League debut on the 29th December 2023.
