Previous meetings: Kidsgrove Athletic v Port Vale
Port Vale return to action at the weekend with a much-changed squad. However, the fixture against Kidsgrove remains a staple in the Vale’s pre-season fixture list. We look at some previous meetings.
Last time we met: 2019
This image of goalscorer Mark Cullen is actually from Vale’s next friendly that summer – a win over Leek Town
There were no friendlies against non-league sides in the Covid-hit 2020-21 season so the sides last met at the start of the 2019-20 season. The game finished in a 2-1 win for the Valiants in front of a crowd of 1,689. The scorers that day were Richie Bennett and Mark Cullen. There were six new signings on parade that day who were Mark Cullen, Ryan Lloyd, Kieran Kennedy, Adam Crookes, Richie Bennett and Scott Burgess.
The previous three:
2018: Kidsgrove 1-1 Port Vale
Connell Rawlinson at Kidsgrove, 2018
It finished all-square in 2018 with Louis Dodds scoring the equaliser for the Valiants after former Valiant Anthony Malbon opened the scoring. Tom Pope hit the post but Vale were unable to pull off a win. The Port Vale team included a string of summer signings including Connell Rawlinson, Idris Kanu, Scott Quigley and Theo Vassell.
