Louis Dodds opens Port Vale account as Kidsgrove earn draw

Louis Dodds opened his account on his return to the club as Port Vale were held to a 1-1 draw by Kidsgrove in their second friendly game of the summer.

Vale named a line-up for each half which included trialist Gime Toure plus a host of summer signings.

Dodds opened the scoring on 21 minutes before former Vale striker Anthony Malbon equalised on 34 minutes.

Tom Pope hit the post in the second period but Vale were unable to force a winner.

First-half: Brown, Vassell, Kay, Legge, Montano, Worrall, Pugh, Joyce, Daniels, Quigley, Dodds.

Second-half: Brown, Gibbons, Smith, Rawlinson, McKeown, Kanu, Tonge, Calveley, Hannant, Angus (Pope), Toure
