Match report: Kidsgrove Athletic 1-2 Port Vale
Veteran Michael Brown was on the scoresheet as the Valiants came from a goal behind to win their second pre-season friendly game.
Bruno Ribeiro gave keeper Jak Alnwick his first start of the summer pre-season schedule as he named two separate Vale sides for each half. Jerome Thomas also started the game.
The Valiants began with a number of chances for Cicilia and a good free-kick from Tavares but it was goalless at the break.
There were second-half chances for Brown and Mbamba but Vale were rocked on 71 minutes when John Clayton put the home side ahead.
However, Vale equalised five minutes later when assistant-manager Michael Brown fired home. And it was Brown who put Vale ahead with seven minutes remaining following a cross from Gibbons.
Brown’s double was enough for Vale to win the game as they recorded their second successive friendly win of the summer.
