Former Valiants: Loft finds new club, Boot and Vassell released
A round-up of news about former Port Vale players including a new non-league club for promotion-winning skipper Doug Loft.
Loft moves to Margate
2013 promotion-winning captain Doug Loft has moved on to a new club after joining Isthmian League Premier Division side Margate. Manager Jay Saunders was clearly delighted with the signing of the 34 year-old commenting: “With all his experience, he is a key signing for us, and like Lewis Knight, is a player I believe will offer us a lot, both on and off the pitch.” Loft played 196 times for the Valiants during a five year spell, scoring 19 times.
Solihull Moors release Boot
Former Valiants keeper Ryan Boot has been released by National League side Solihul Moors. The news is something of a shock as Boot has been a regular during the last season, making 48 appearances. The 26 year-old has made 148 appearances in total for the Moors during a three year stay. Meanwhile, former Vale defender Kyle Howkins‘ loan spell at the club has now expired.
Vassell among eight to leave the Racecourse Ground
Former Vale defender Theo Vassell is one of eight players to be released by National League side Wrexham. Former Valiants keeper Rob Lainton has been offered a new deal while former Vale striker Dior Angus is still under contract.
Former Vale loanee in demand
Scott Tanser, who spent a spell on loan with the Valiants in 2017 is reportedly in demand according to newspaper reports. The St Johnstone left-back is wanted by a number of League One clubs this summer with Sheffield Wednesday, Doncaster Rovers and Shrewsbury Town reportedly interested.

I thought that Ryan Boot was a decent keeper and with the right pre-season training under the supervision of the coaches and the manager he could replace Scot Brown in the squad. Worth considering in my view.

Very much, Again fans player of year hasn’t missed a minute of first team action in 3 seasons, since he’s been here.
Our new manager must have a class goalkeeper up his sleeve if he’s letting Booty go !
FL clearly next step.
