Vale added former Nottingham Forest man Taylor to their ranks on Monday but due to Football League regulations they have to remove a player to add Taylor to their twenty two player League Two squad.
The club have now confirmed that it is McKirdy who will miss out. Caretaker manager Danny Pugh told the Sentinel: “Since Jake has come in, “Harry won’t be in the squad. He won’t be in our 22. He’s had to come off and now we are at our limit with the 22. If anyone comes into the club then someone will have to go off that list.”
McKirdy and striker Theo Robinson were both made available for transfer in the January window as Vale looked to make changes to their side but wheras McKirdy wasn’t invovled in Saturdays’s squad, Robinson was named as a sub and came on late in the game.
The decision to drop McKirdy is probably based on competition in the wide areas, The emergence of Alex Hurst plus the return after injury of David Worrall and David Amoo leaves Vale with plenty of wide options even in McKirdy’s absence. However, it’s a different story upfront with Mark Cullen missing a portion of the season through injury, Robinson is still required as cover and that probably explains why the striker remains in the squad.

What a great signing – Jake Taylor is in my view an exceptional player for League 2 and fitted in well during his last spell with Vale. Welcome to Vale Park Jake and all the best.

I think Port Vale have missed a trick here i saw this lad play at Aston Villa ,i thought the lad was really talented and going places . Hopefully he can go on from this setback and get back into football with another club . He must not have performed like i have seen him play in the past when he played for Port Vale . But there again if your not for the manager that will always be a problem he has your destiny in his hands.
