A look back at a busy summer of transfers at Port Vale

15th May
League Two clubs vote to formally end the 2019-20 season early. Port Vale chair Carol Shanahan earns praise for voting for the season to finish despite Port Vale being just one place outside the play-off places.
19th May
Port Vale release their retained list – with seven players offered new deals with the club. The fans welcome the news with one calling the decisions “spot on.”
1st July
Winger David Amoo (pictured right) is the first of the out of contract players to sign, agreeing a new two-year deal.
2nd July
Defender Shaun Brisley follows suit with a one-year contract.
3rd July
Midfielder Tom Conlon is the third out of contract player to sign – agreeing a two-year deal.
4th July
Striker Mark Cullen agrees a one year deal with the Valiants.
6th July
Winger cum left-back Cristian Montano agrees a one-year deal while fellow winger Rhys Browne also agrees a new one-year deal.
7th July
Young striker Devante Rodney becomes the first new signing of the summer. The former Salford City man agrees a three year deal with the Valiants.
10th July
To some surprise, Nathan Smith (pictured right), strongly linked with a move to a higher division, opts to remain at Vale Park handing the club a huge boost. It is the first time in living memory that all Port Vale players offered new deals have accepted the contracts.
16th July
Versatile defender Zak Mills becomes the second new arrival of the summer after agreeing a one year deal.
6th August
Port Vale strengthen their midfield with the signing of Salford City man Danny Whitehead. Whitehead is well known to manager John Askey who signed him for Macclesfield Town.
13th August
Manager John Askey confirms that striker Harvey Bradbury is on trial with the club. He will later leave before the friendly with Blackpool.
15th August
Four trialists – Ethan Beckford, Kieran Hayes, David Fitzpatrick and Dino Visser play for the club in a behind closed doors friendly with Blackpool.
24th August
After some misplaced speculation linking the Vale with a move for Nicky Maynard, the club announce the signing of 31 year-old striker Theo Robinson on a two year contract.
26th August
After a successful trial, former Macclesfield Town defender David Fitzpatrick agrees a one year deal with the club.
27th August
After another successful trial, 31 year-old goalkeeper Dino Visser also joins the Valiants.
31st August
The only negative news of a positive summer comes when Rhys Browne (pictured right) decides to leave the club for “personal reasons.”
3rd September
The Sentinel newspaper says that Carlisle United winger Harry McKirdy and Newcastle Town forward Scott McLean are training with the club as they look for a replacement for Rhys Browne.
