Port Vale sign Theo Robinson on a two year deal
Port Vale sign Theo Robinson: the Valiants agree a two year deal with the forward.
The 31 year-old had a spell at League Two rivals Colchester United last season, netting twelve times in just 34 appearances. Robinson now gives Vale manager John Askey an experienced fourth option alongside fellow forwards Mark Cullen, Tom Pope and Devante Rodney. The Valiants were keen to add a new striker to their ranks and had been linked with the likes of Nicky Maynard but have opted for another proven striker in Robinson.
The experienced central forward had an earlier loan spell at Vale Park in 2016 when he netted twice in fourteen appearances. After departing Vale Park he returned to his parent club Motherwell before having spells at Lincoln City and Southend United.
A prolific forward, Robinson has scored 112 goals in 482 appearances over a fifteen year career. He began his career with Watford and was released by League One side Southend United at the end of last season.
The new signing told the official Port Vale website: “It feels good. It feels like a family club. It’s a challenge I am looking forward to.
“For me personally it’s to go forward and score goals. It’s a good team and an attacking team as well.
It’s an opportunity I couldn’t turn down.”
