About Andy Porter

Combative midfielder Andy Porter was born in Holmes Chapel and rose through the youth ranks to become a regular in the Port Vale midfields of manager John Rudge.

Porter made over 420 appearances (scoring 26 goals) during a eleven year spell with the Valiants before he left to join Wigan Athletic. He later returned to Vale Park in 2004 as a coach and was called up to play for the first-team in the process. He made six appearances during his second spell.

He also served the club in several different coaching positions and had a brief spell as caretaker manager after the sacking of Lee Sinnott.
