Port Vale 1-0 Southampton, FA Cup third round replay 18th January 1994

Port Vale 1-0 Southampton

One of the less well remembered Port Vale games, the win over top-flight Southampton was nevertheless a fantastic achievement from John Rudge’s Port Vale side.

The match was memorable for several things – home fans were allowed into the Hamil End stand, there was a winning goal from Bernie Slaven and future Port Vale midfielder Tommy Widdrington was sent-off for the visitors.
