  1. Out of all the sides i've seen this season, Leyton Orient have surprised me the most because of good they were. Especially for a side just promoted. Well organised, well drilled, fast passing, know what each others jobs are, press quickly. Really impressed with them.

    We're going to get tatered!

  2. Will the budget be less, same or more next season? Less revenue from attendance but will Carol put more into the team budget from selling Synectics?

Of course, most players we are stuck with BUT surely some of those contracts will be terminated. If there were no restrictions, and bearing in mind we will be in a lower division, I would keep:

Ripley, Clarke, Yak (squad), Ojo, Garrity, Chissy, Wilson, Plant (squad), Sang (midfield only - squad)

Personally, I feel that are down. Therefore, is it time DM started to make a decision on what he sees as the 'identity' of the club going forward and using the remaining games playing that way?

  3. Team

    Ripley

    Mitch.   Kasper.   Yak.    Jones

Ojo (hope he's reclaimed his teddies from out of the pram)

              Garrity

                            Chissy

    Massey.      Loft.        Wilson

Expect: fight, we take game to Shrews and where possible players playing in their natural position.

Didn't play midweek ( Conlon ) and only sub yesterday. Suggesting he's either had yet another knock or lost his place . The two you mentioned are not better than him however League one because of too many injuries was a step too far for him.

And that's my point - we've not upgraded.

  5. Been numerous debacles assembling this squad. Was thinking about the decision to move Conlon on. By no means suggesting he was the answer. However, if and when he played, he played with professionalism and pride.

Conlon was no way as good as Devine and Blaster. However, they both left in January and we bring in Weir, Gore (loans) and we obviously have Lowe on the books. Lowe seems likely to play in that defensive midfielder role. Have we upgraded on Conlon with these three? Not just in terms of quality but effort, resilience? May be looking at this through 'rose tinted specs' BUT I genuinely don't feel Weir and Lowe are any better than Conlon and Gore's done a disappearing act.

Just highlighting another recruitment failure IMO.

  6. I think we are down. Players not good enough. No balance to the side and no identity. Some players have thrown the towel in.

I'm hoping we see quite a bit of 'Contract Terminated by Mutual Consent' going on in the summer so we can try and recruit players that are decent and actually fit into what we will be trying to do 'football wise'.

  7. Think all of the Flitcroft out is in vain unless one person changes her mind.

We can quote all of the 'spin', make comments about players/systems. No need.

The league table tell us all we need to know.

Lets say we survive the drop. We've got most of this team again next season. Not sure whether I would rather us stay in League 1 getting battered every week or in League 2 winning a few games.🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪

  8. When Clarke came in (along with Flitcroft at the same time) didn't he point out that the squad of players that he inherited were one dimensional and only set up for 433 under Askey?

Three years on, history seems to have repeated itself under Flitcroft's watch. One dimensional:352.

IMO we were better last night playing 4231 but no full back in the squad means (until Mitch is back) square pegs in round holes. Jones was ok but always injured. Grant was awful (again) and Sang was full of mistakes. Out of his depth.

  9. 4 tiers (tears) of problems (football related only) that will relegate us, all of which compound the next.

    1. Insufficient budget to compete in League 1

    +

    2. DoF who has recruited poorly with insufficient budget

    +

    3. Inexperienced manager (AC) who didn't have the required skill set to get much out of the poorly recruited players.

    +

    4. A squad where majority are not good enough or can't be bothered now we are in a dog fight.

    = League 2 relegation

He was crap. He’s there as a striker on 3k a week plus.

I can run still at 43. Doesn’t mean I should be a Port Vale number 9.

His miss from the Chislett cross was unforgivable.

If you want someone who can run I’d suggest go to Northwood stadium.

Come on. It’s not hard to see he’s absolutely utter garbage, robbing a living and isn’t the answer to get us goals with 15 games to go.

Agree. But, for this season, there isn't much alternative.

I've seen the supposed message, and anyone could have written that couldn't they.

Ainsworth seen down there, if they were going to be so underhand towards Schumacher they'd do it out of plain sight.

More than likely the Ainsworth naming suggests it's a Vale fan that's started this on a wind up

    Funny see 'em squirm.🤣

  12. Just off topic (sorry) but sounds like things are kicking off at Stoke. Loads of rumours on X and the oatcake. One being that Ainsworth has been seen around the Bet365. Their DoF Ricky Martin picked the team on Saturday, the players don't like Schumacher and he could be on his way.

I would try this team (if fit)

                         Ripley

     Clark  Derbra  Lopata  Jones

                   Ojo      Garrity

    Massey       Chislett      Mighten

                            Loft

I know Massey probably doesn’t deserve a start, but I’d give him a last chance in his favoured position and see if can link up with Clark. I also think we need Garrity’s engine and bite in the middle to try and stop teams cutting through us like a knife through hot butter. In terms of forward options, I think Loft gives us more of physical presence, with Wilson to come on.

Like this side (if fit, as you say) but would may be swap Massey for Sang BUT I do understand why you would play Massey there. After all, it is his natural position. And he shouldn't have too much (although not 'none at all') defensive responsibility.

Reckon Moore will go even more defensive tonight fair enough if you have a out ball I wouldn't say Wilson or Loft are a out ball ,haven't seen them combine do anything and in my opinion the opposition get out too easily

So tonight I'm expecting something mental like this ultra defensive better pick up your players

         Ripley

    Debrah Smith Lopaco Icavettit

Lowe Jones (if fit) ojo Walters

                   Wilson Loft

Personally I'd go for this side the best defensively we have looked all season was when ojo played back there first half v Lincoln until Ollie got sent off only  going be one winner and it wasn't them and even after we still defended relatively well

            Ripley

    Debrah Lopaco Ojo

    Sang Walters Jones Grant

         Garrity

    Mighten Wilson

If those players are available I think Jones with his array of passing can get mighten in time snd time, again ojo will talk Lopaco and Debrah through game at back and Walters will pass it on the ground Garrity does the work of 3 and Vale have a chance then .

In my opinion I've watched these players enough to know that  some are not quick enough to be in the team period but they will be selected at the cost of the club moving forwards.

Even taking into account our defensive frailties, playing too many defensive minded players doesn't work. We aren't able to get out and put the opposition under any kind of pressure. Aspin was guilty of this at the end of his tenure.

Got to give the opposition something to think about.

Also, what happened to high press? We seem to just sit back in shape waiting for the inevitable.

To be honest, even though we have had soundbites about chasing free agents - Im not convinced we are chasing anyone (other than opposition shadows on the pitch🙈🙈🙈 )

Totally agree. When Josh Thomas went back and we signed Dipepa, I said that Dipepa would be Thomas's replacement. We almost deserve what we get. Makes me wonder how we managed to convince Moore to come.

Agree all we doing is what Crosby did playing to many players in positions they are not suited to . Take weir he’s an attacking midfielder not a holding  , sang is a holding midfielder not a right back or wing back

    Lowe at RB?

What we'd give for Gibbo! And, dare I say it, Benning at LB.

    Ojo Weir

    Chislett Wilson Mighten

Garrity, Gore, and Clark slot straight into that team when fit.

Not sure about Weir as a DCM. Like you say, would go with Gore next to Ojo when fit.

What about Walters next to Ojo?

Other than that, looks decent. Got to try a back 4.
