  1. Cannot understand how fans can question DM this early in his tenure, this time next season may be.  The people to blame for our demise, 1 Carol she is in charge. 2 DF after last year to not sign players in key positions is absolutely criminal. OK it would cost money but how much is relegation going to cost.

    Very simple question  ....

Are you a mard arse who is going to cry and crumble and ensure we will go down?

Or are you going to grow some and vocally support every Vale player on the pitch to get the points we need to stay up?

    VTID

No I am a realist. Please explain why we should go out of our way to support this lot. And I have supported the team for over 65 years, but enough is enough

I think a large part of this problem is that clubs in the premiership and championship now have much larger squads. Where they will employ footballers just to be bench warmers. Or just be part of an enhanced squad. It works for the players as they can earn far more as a rarely used squad player in the higher leagues than drop down to leagues 1 & 2 for first team football. Can't blame them. Would you tell your missus that you are going to up root all the family so you can earn less than a quarter of what you were.
It is the way football has been allowed by the authorities to develop.

That’s fine. But all the other teams at the bottom have managed to recruit strikers, and others.

I can only judge people as I find so I'll be honest, I don't understand where all this hatred for the bloke comes from off fans. OK some of the transfer activity as been crap with regards to Stikers ect, but he can only spend what Carol gives him. H The prob I think for him, is some fans will always be up Pope's backside and so once Pope did that interview slatting Flitcroft he's always been onto a loser.

The strange thing is we have had two diabolical Jan transfer windows, not replaced key players, and openly stated we didn’t have the money for suitable strikers, which will ultimately cost us our L1 status. But we have paid Crosbys team off. Then bought in DM and his team, which is a lot of money for a L2 bound team.

Would it not made financial sense to purchase a striker?

Post of the day.  Exactly how i feel; I like Hoppers post, too, but believe we have enough to be an EFL1 team and fight for our stay in this league.  Without the huge injuries we've had this season I still be lieve we'd be mid-table - I also think we'll end up mid-table at the end of the season.

Post of the day, if your heads buried in the sand

Rob can you start a new thread relating to the pitch incursion and ship all the comments above to it.

Perhaps then we can, finally, get back on topic please.

But there’s nowt to discuss on topic, transfers, there’s more happening at Burslem library.

We lost v Middlesbrough by an unlucky deflection, bad mistake in possession at the back and letting a player come inside and shoot. We were lucky that Balmer didn't gift them more goals before the manager subbed him.

The stats are we had 39% possession making 4 shots with 1 on target. That's not going to win games. But Middlesbrough need some credit. You could see they had good defenders and showed it in the way they blocked crosses off. They only made one big mistake and it was Massey who just couldn't keep down the hard hit cross reaching out close to the line.

Middlesbrough dominated possession. 618 passes. What stood out for me watching from Lorne Street was they were technically superior by quite a distance in controlling and manipulating the ball. They also had better player movement in the team to receive the ball in play. They could play quicker than PV in possession because of these factors.

Middlesbrough were happy to make sure PV didn't harm them and did this by simply keeping possession. But their attacking stats are 10 shots, 5 on target and 3 goals. So they were potent.

I can't say whether their great superiority is simply better players with more talent. Or whether better coaching plays a significant part. What did strike me, and worry me a bit, is that Walters looked out of his depth when he came on. So the point I'm making is he would improve much quicker and to a higher level at Middlesbrough.

If we are going to keep the players we bringing through and progress as a club we need coaching to be at Championship level. I don't see that presently at team level or individual level.

I cannot disagree with anything in this post Warren. What worries me is that we obviously have a cash problem, certainly going back to Januarys transfer window, if not beyond.

Crosby was the cheap option to replace DC, personally I think we need to replace him, and also bring in key players at LB, LWB and Striker, but because the finance position is certainly no better now, we cannot do this. These are worrying times.

Over the years Vale fans or football fans have never failed to surprise me .

We will sell out this game regardless of whether folk can or cannot afford go then we will never see them again till next big major match .

You only have to look at Stoke in Premier sell outs weekly in Championship a lot lower crowds .

How did we ever get the numbers in v Spurs 2-1 Arsenal 1-1 and Everton 2-1 v man City 8000 away followers yet we only had 5500 most home games that season .

Port Vale quarter finalists sells and if doesn't I'd be first one admit it and look a right plonker .

Regardless of price get in .

    Folk will come

    And rightly they should .

Well said. Those are the prices, get on with it and stop trying to run the club.
