Port Vale manager John Askey says defensive “naivity” was at fault as his side shipped three goals against Salford City on Tuesday evening.
The Valiants were knocked out of the Football League Trophy competition after the 3-0 loss.
Speaking after the game, Askey told the media: “In the first-half we were doing okay and naivety has cost us the first goal, the ball should have been cleared.
“Then you go in 1-0 down and think, there’s quite a big slope here and you are thinking we have a chance in the second half.
