- Port Vale 2-3 Rochdale – poor defending overshadows Proctor double
After the first 15 minutes or so this has been absolutely depressing stuff. Through poor mistakes and sloppy play again and again we’ve made Rochdale look much better than they are…

Individual errors/bad choices and Rochdale wanting the ball more and their players double tagging Conlon when he had the ball…

A frustrating and horrible game. From the sublime to the ridiculous. We looked very disjointed today with too many players having an ‘off’ day. Conceded 6 in 2. That’s abysmal. The defending for their third was just ludicrous…

Really disappointed with our defence today. Not having that as that was just really sloppy. Jamie Proctor did all he could do and was well worth the MOTM and not just for his goals but his all round play…

What an odd game. First 10/15 mins were as good as I’ve seen down vale for some time and we could have been 3/4 up! No idea what happened after that. We defended horribly as a unit and individually. They looked a decent side I thought but played through us far too easily…

The system, formation and players got more and more confusing and disjointed as the game went on. Very frustrating that we lose at home following a great away win. New manager, new process, new squad, same old Vale…

Great start, we should be 2 or 3 up within the next 15 mins looked good but one the goal goes in we looked really lethargic. We looked completely off the pace with no idea how to manage the game, constantly giving the ball away…

Its hard to know what to make of that display after last week. We started like a train and could have been 2 or 3 up with better finishing, but as soon as they scored with pretty much their first chance we just lost all our momentum. I’m liking Proctor and Wilson up front, and although only one is scoring, I’m sure that will change. The defence was terrible today, but I don’t think its just Legge’s absence. I don’t think that the half time subs worked at all. Rodney needs to learn to stay on his feet as he’s going backwards. Why won’t he play Politic?

Pleased with proctor. He looks a very good player. All that hard work last week seems for nothing. It was a big game for me today in terms of getting two wins on the bounce and in front of a good vocal crowd again and moving up the table. It’s a shame we couldn’t do this. I also wish Clarke would stop thinking he’s some kind of tactical genius in keep changing systems all the time…

The great atmosphere among the fans at Vale Park was ruined after the first fifteen minutes. Whereas the goal should have spurred us on to a comfortable victory it had the opposite effect and the team went to pieces. Darrell Clarke’s substitutions were quite a mystery especially taking Garrity off, and Vale also lost the effectiveness of Dan Jones’s throw-ins.
But the biggest mystery is that Darrell Clarke seems to be the only person at Vale Park who thinks that Worrall is a wing fullback when everybody else knows that he is a very effective wing forward. It’s a worry that Mr Clarke is so obstinate in the way that he is selecting the team and his compulsion to be always making so many changes. Yes we are missing Leggy. Martin and Benning had shockers but remained on the field.
Come on Vale you have enough people in place to spot the problems – the fans have certainly noticed. I’m afraid that Carol Shanahan will have to call in her Director of Football and the Team Manager and have some serious words with them.
Not much say enjoyed the remembrance of all the fine supporters we have lost but never forgotten ,loved seeing a decent home crowd and first 15 to 20 minutes we looked hungry and fantastic scored 1 should have been game over after that period then I do not know what happened it was tge sublime to the ridiculous giving free headers in the box not working hard enough space galore for the opposition it was almost like we have showed you what we can do for 20 mins but that’s all your getting as we can just stroll through the rest of the game even then at 2-2 we did the same again not closing down strolling around like its a weekly walk while Rochdale passed it moved and deservedly took the game .
