So, Vale emerge from a busy window with six strikers, Cole, Paton, Stockley, Waine, with loan signings Faal and Brown. Which pairing is likely to start and be effective ? Faal and Brown are relatively inexperienced. Stockley now 32 unfortunately has recurring injuries, and summer signing Waine hasn’t yet made an impact. Cole seems the most likely to be guaranteed to start, which leaves Paton who hasn’t been on Moore’s radar for first team selection. If fully fit I would choose Cole and Stockley, but hope to see Paton get an extended run. He has genuine qualities to be a success in League 1, but I doubt Moore shares that view.

I am glad that we have signed a striker with some pedigree probably as good as we could get, I agree with David why has a fit Paton been overlooked when signed he had a proven scoring record albeit in Scotland, Stockley would be my choose but if not others fit surely Paton is the answer not a young loanee who could’ve returned at Xmas. Where does Hall fit in to midfield? Also what has happened to Jordan Gabriel he along with others seems to have disappeared into some form of black hole at Vaale Park?

Surely we must now crack on and get some results. If we can keep Garrity, Stockley and others fit we have strength in depth without too many changes game after game. Settle on a system 3 4 3 and go from the start and let it be about the Vale and not the opposition.
