Port Vale have confirmed the signing of striker Devante Cole from Championship side West Bromwich Albion.
The striker was released by West Brom just before the end of the transfer window, allowing the Valiants to sign the free agent. He has joined on a three year deal.
Manager Darren Moore said: “We’re delighted to have secured Devante’s signature – he’s a player that had plenty of interest from various clubs but has ultimately chosen to be part of what we’re building here at Port Vale. He is a player with wonderful attributes, including a proven ability for scoring goals, and we’re all really pleased to have him on board.”
Cole, who has a proven record at League One level, would look to be a natural replacement for the departed Lorent Tolaj. The move will be seen as a statement of intent by the Valiants.
Cole has been widely linked with a move to Burslem for some weeks. He started his career with Manchester City and has England U19 caps. The striker joins midfielder George Hall as a Port Vale deadline day addition.
