News on the movements of some former Port Vale players.
Conlon is latest to join Tranmere Rovers
Tom Conlon has joined a growing former Port Vale contingent at Tranmere Rovers. Rovers are managed by Darrell Clarke and already have Nathan Smith and James Plant in their squad. Conlon joins on a six month deal after his release from Oldham Athletic. The Vale connection with Rovers is a strong one – last season Andy Crosby managed the side while Jason Lowe and Marko Marosi also played for the first-team.
Thomas joins Fleetwood
Former Port Vale loan striker Josh Thomas has joined Fleetwood on a permanent deal. The former Swansea man spent half a season with the Valiants scoring three times during the 2023-24 season.
McGoldrick joins Mansfield
Another former loanee, albeit one from much longer ago, has also moved on. David McGoldrick, who had a spell on loan with Vale in 2007 has moved on to Mansfield Town. The striker, now aged 38, made 18 appearances for the Valiants scoring twice.
Amos signs for Barrow
Full-back Danny Amos, who had a brief spell in the Potteries, has signed for Barrow. Amos joined Vale in 2021 but made just three appearances before being released. Now 26 years of age, he has been playing for Glentoran before being snapped up by Barrow.
Ferguson opts for Hornchurch
Midfielder Nathan Ferguson, another player to have a brief spell with Vale, has signed for Hornchurch. A Bruno Ribeiro signing in 2016 he made a solitary appearance for the Valiants.
