Comments online have suggested that Vale’s trialist goalkeeper is a former Manchester United youth teamer.
The Valiants started Saturday’s game against Bath City with youngster Arron Davies in goal before he was replaced at the break by a trialist.
Summer signing Marko Marosi was rested for the game while last season’s first choice Ben Amos was absent through injury.
Background – Vale’s search for a keeper
It appears that the Vale are definitely in the market for another keeper. Either Marosi or Amos look set to be the number one but if Amos is ruled out through injury that leaves a place for an experienced rival to Marosi. Davies is highly regarded by the club but it is potentially too early in his career to be in the first-team and Vale may look to loan him out.
The search for competition to Marosi, in Amos’ absence, has continued over the summer. Brad Foster played in the games against Newcastle and Kidsgrove but has now moved to Scottish club Ross County. Media reports have also linked Vale with a possible loan move for Aston Villa keeper Filip Marschall.
Who could the trialist be?
Comments online suggest that the trialist could be Hubert Graczyk. The Polish-born player was released by Manchester United in the summer. Graczyk was born in Poland but has played for England at U16,U17 and U18 levels. He started his career at Arsenal before moving to Manchester United in 2023. His only first-team experience is a brief spell at Slough Town but his form was such that he was called into first-team training at Old Trafford earlier this season. Standing six foot and four inches tall, the 22 year-old is currently looking for a new club adding weight to the suggestion that he could be the mystery trialist.
