“Delighted” – James Wilson thrilled to extend Port Vale stay
Striker James Wilson says he is “delighted” to have extended his contract at Vale Park until the end of the season.
The talented forward initially left the club in the summer before being invited back and agreeing an initial short-term deal which has now been extended until the end of the season.
It was a bit of a weight lifted off my shoulders not knowing my immediate future, so now we can build towards the next half of the season…
Wilson, who has scored four goals so far, told the local media he was “Obviously delighted to have come to an agreement and keep me here till the summer. It was a bit of a weight lifted off my shoulders not knowing my immediate future, so now we can build towards the next half of the season.”
Wilson was injured for a spell but he said he was determined to come back. He added: “My sole focus was to get back into the team and play football. That stood me in good stead for the decisions that were made.”
Wilson credits a different mindset has also helped him this season saying: “I have put a lot more time and effort into being a footballer. Before I could go home and completely switch off. Now I can go home and just do stretching and I know how to get myself ready for the game. I have kind of a different view of the game and the gaffer putting that into my head and me doing it out on the pitch and in the gym.”
