Andy Crosby on Port Vale’s draw at Stevenage – “delighted with the clean sheet”
Port Vale manager Andy Crosby said he was “delighted” that the Valiants picked up a point against Stevenage at the weekend.
Speaking to the media after the game, Andy Crosby first passed on his best wishes to former manager Brian Horton who is battling prostate cancer. Crosby said: “We hope that he overcomes that challenge and that battle. That’s more important than a game of football.”
Discussing the game he added: “We started off the game really well. They became less effective because we had the ball. Delighted with the clean sheet. Delighted with the mentality of the group. Lots to be pleased about. It’s important to respond to three games where we didn’t get any points.”
Crosby was also happy to see Ryan Loft and Uche Ikpeazu in his squad although both are lacking match fitness and could manage 45 minutes each. Crosby commented: “For both players that’s the max they could play. I thought it made perfect sense to play one in each half. They brought us a physicality we didn’t have.”
The manager also had praise for Vale’s travelling support adding: “Thank you to the fans who have come all this way again.”
