“We go into every game knowing we can beat anybody” – Ben Garrity on Port Vale’s new-found confidence
Goalscoring midfielder Ben Garrity says the Port Vale have the belief that they can beat “anyone” after he said they bounced back from that opening day seven goal thrashing in “brilliant” fashion.
Garrity scored his fourth goal in four games as the Vale drew 1-1 with Cambridge United on Saturday. The midfielder said that despite Cambridge’s formidable home record this season the group were “all a bit disappointed as we’ve been such a good run.” Garrity acknowledged that Cambridge were a “difficult team to play against” and although the players “felt disappointed walking off” after being pegged back from a 1-0 lead, on reflection “I think we look at it as a positive point.”
We’re doing so well since the Barnsley game. We go into every game knowing we can beat anybody.
The popular all-action midfielder has been in fine form in recent games and says his goal glut has left him “buzzing!” However, despite his recent fine form Garrity pointed out that “two of the games (he scored in) we haven’t won I’d prefer someone else scoring and us winning. The main thing is the three points.”
Despite a loss and a draw in the last two League games, the midfielder says that confidence in the team is sky-high adding that “Everyone’s still learning. New players are coming in and doing well. We’re doing so well since the Barnsley game (a 7-0 loss). We go into every game knowing we can beat anybody.”
