Rumour – Port Vale one of two clubs interested in signing left wingback?
Portsmouth newspaper The News says that Port Vale are one of two clubs interested in signing left wingback Denver Hume.
The report claims that the Valiants and League Two outfit Swindon Town have both expressed an interest in the 27 year-old.
Vale could be in the market for a left wingback having seen Mal Benning depart and replacement Conor Grant beset by injury problems.
The newspaper says that Hume is well out of the first-team picture at Portsmouth and may seek a move ahead of the transfer deadline. The paper claims:
The News understands Hume is a wanted man at Vale Park, after their strong start to the League One campaign under Andy Crosby.
They want Hume after a busy summer in which they’ve brought in 11 signings, following a campaign where they consolidated in League One following their promotion.
The man who arrived from Sunderland for £200,000 last year is also being trailed by Swindon, however, who are aiming for success in League Two this season under Michael Flynn.
Hume began his career at Sunderland where he progressed through the junior ranks to the first-team, making 84 appearances and scoring three times. He joined Portsmouth in January 2022 for an undisclosed fee but is yet to make an appearance this campaign.
