Former Port Vale manager Darrell Clarke set to take on new job
Former Port Vale manager Darrell Clarke is set to become the new manager of League One rivals Cheltenham Town, according to media reports.
Clarke left the Valiants on the 17th April ending a two year spell which saw the Vale promoted to League One via the play-offs. However, his reign was also marked by personal tragedy with Clarke’s daughter passing away and the manager taking bereavement leave. He returned in time to be pitchside for Vale’s Wembley triumph. However, an awful run of games in the 2022-23 season saw Clarke dismissed.
Without a club since his Vale departure, Clarke is reported to be the target of rock bottom Cheltenham Town. According to the Gloucestershire Live website:
Darrell Clarke is set to be unveiled as Cheltenham Town’s new manager in the next 24 hours, Gloucestershire Live understands.
The former Bristol Rovers, Walsall and Port Vale boss has been chosen as Wade Elliott’s successor at the League One club after a thorough interview process this week
Clarke took charge of 124 games at Vale Park with a win ratio of 42%.
