The Valiants lost the home fixture 2-0 at Vale Park after goals from Sam Smith and Lloyd Jones for the visitors. However, they did win 1-0 at Cambridge earlier in the season thanks to a Paul Digby own-goal. So, it ended all-square for the 2022-23 campaign…
OVER THE YEARS
The Valiants have only won two of the last five visits to Cambridge. One was the aforementioned game last season. The other was back in February 2002 when striker Steve McPhee scored the winner in a 1-0 Vale victory.
Vale are not faring much better at home either – having lost their last two home fixtures against United.
