Crosby told the official Port Vale media team that the conditions were: “incredibly hot. I think both sets of players deserve enormous amounts of credit for playing two hours of football in forty degrees heat. It was really challenging physically (but) their mentality was really good.”
Crosby was also pleased with the performance saying: “we scored a really good goal from a cross from Mitch (Clark) with Ben (Garrity) arriving in the box with a great header. I think we conceded a controversial goal, shall we say.”
The manager was pleased that the squad picked up no injuries adding: “the intention was to increase the players’ game time. We had a couple of players coming back with Gavin (Massey) and Mal (Benning) having 45 minutes. Tom Sang missed out with a little tight calf. We go home having collected no more injuries.”
