Real motivation – Andy Crosby praises returning Darrell Clarke
Interim manager Andy Crosby has called manager Darrell Clarke’s return from bereavement a “real motivation” as the club push for promotion.
Crosby, who has done a superb job standing in while Clarke took extended leave for a close family bereavement has guided the side into the top three. Clarke was at the stadium to witness the side’s 1-0 win over Hartlepool and Crosby says his presence motivated his side.
This is a real motivation to try to do this for him as well. It was great to see him back today, his first game…
Crosby told the media about the effect Clarke’s return has had: “It is absolutely massive. He has obviously had a terrible time. It is great to see him back in. He has a long journey to go through but the belief in the lads just to see him again was great.
“This is a real motivation to try to do this for him as well. It was great to see him back today, his first game. He was in a couple of days last week, in and around the place and getting on with different tasks around the club, the planning and preparation for next season.
“It was great to see him on the pitch and I hope he enjoyed it. I messaged him this morning and said, ‘Good luck, enjoy it!’
“I don’t know whether he enjoyed it or not but I am sure he will enjoy the result.”

Great man Darrell Clarke. Treated badly by Rovers for speaking his mind, but will always be thought highly of by Rovers fans. He will get a great welcome on Monday.
