Port Vale manager Jon Brady says the club will take a slow but steady approach to talismanic skipper Ben Garrity’s fitness.
The captain signed a new deal this summer but his influence has been hit by a succession of injuries over the last two seasons.
Garrity has not featured in Vale’s pre-season campaign so far and speaking after Port Vale’s 1-0 friendly win over Real Murcia Brady told the media team: “Ben is going to be a slower process and we’re making sure that he is going to be so strong throughout the season. Just making sure we take our time on it and build him and he’ll have a slower process than others.”
A fit Garrity is undoubtedly an asset – he was player of the year and netted twelve times as Vale were promoted in 2022 and he was also named player of the year for a second time in 2024.
