Trialist to feature for Port Vale against Kidsgrove
Port Vale manager Darrell Clarke has confirmed that a trialist will feature during Saturday’s friendly match against Kidsgrove Athletic.
Clarke has undertaken a significant summer rebuilding task in recent weeks and he told the media he was still looking to add up to four new players to his squad.
There will be a couple of the younger players involved, and one trialist…
Clarke commented: “We are at a squad of 19, and I think it’s a good, solid 19. Like I said last season, I don’t want it top heavy. Looking at it now, and the flexibility with a lot of players within the group to be able to play different formations and positions, we are probably going to be looking at a 22 or 23-man squad. So, three definitely more, four possibly.”
Speaking about the Saturday’s friendly game – a match against Kidsgrove Athletic, Clarke added: “There will be a couple of the younger players involved, and one trialist, but that’s it. Other than that, it will be my first-team squad that will be playing 45 minutes each. No player will be playing longer than 45, but we have a good healthy squad going down there.”
