Injury boost for depleted Valiants squad
Port Vale manager Darrell Clarke is hopeful that several injured players are close to a return ahead of the new season.
The Valiants were without several players including David Worrall, Leon Legge and Jake Taylor for the friendly game against Nottingham Forest.
Here is Clarke’s assessment of the players:
Leon Legge and Dave Worrall
The pair missed the game through illness and are expected to be fit to take part in next week’s training camp.
Alex Hurst
The youngster was taken off at the start of the Newcastle Town friendly. However, the winger is making good progress with his knee injury and is also expected to make next week’s training camp.
David Amoo
The forward missed the Forest friendly with a strain but the manager says that it isn’t serious.
James Gibbons
The right-back suffered a hamstring injury but the Vale manager says the defender is making good progress and is a “few weeks” away from taking part in training.
Jake Taylor
The one piece of bad news concerns the former Forest midfielder who could now miss the start of the new season after suffering a thigh injury.
