Ricky Miller joins Aldershot Town: former Valiant finds new club
Ricky Miller joins Aldershot Town: former Port Vale striker Ricky Miller has been announced as a new signing by National League side Aldershot Town.
Miller has been without a club since leaving Port Vale by mutual consent in June 2019.
The forward was signed from Peterborough United for an undisclosed fee by former Port Vale manager Neil Aspin in June 2018. However, his move was controversial right from the off. Miller was initially unable to play in pre-season friendlies due to an FA hearing. When he was cleared to play he struggled during his time with the Valiants and he ended with a record of six goals in thirty five appearances. After leaving the Vale he spoke to onevalefan about the mental health challenges he had faced while a player.
I’ve got a point to prove that I’m still capable of what I’ve done…
The 31 year-old forward told the official Aldershot Town website: “I’ve got a point to prove that I’m still capable of what I’ve done. I feel fitter than I did at Dover and I’ve come a long way since then as well, so I’m hoping I can pick up where I left off.”
