Former Port Vale striker Ricky Miller speaks out about mental health issues
Ricky Miller on mental health: the former Port Vale striker has used social media to discuss the mental health issues which have affected his professional football career.
Miller spent a year at Vale Park after being signed by former manager Neil Aspin but he left by mutual consent in 2019 after six goals in 35 games.

Taking about his inability to discuss his issues Miller added: “I just used to clam up around the lads sometimes, then I’d go home get in bed and hide from the world.
Discussing his time at Vale Park he added: “I had no friends or family up here, couldn’t confide in my manager or teammates my only defence mechanism was to act, touch and pretend I didn’t care.”
He sums up his experience as: “The moral of my story is you never know what anyone is going through.”
