Manager reveals identities of two more trialists training with Port Vale
Port Vale manager John Askey has revealed the identity of some of the trialists currently training with the club and who could feature in the first summer friendly game on Saturday.
The Valiants have five trialists in their squad. The identities of three of them were known to be forward Harvey Bradbury and goalkeepers Dino Visser and Rhys Lovatt.
Photos of a Vale training session this week showed two more trialists sparked much speculation on their identity but comments from Askey now mean that all five can be identified.
Speaking to BBC Radio Stoke’s Phil Bowyers, Askey commented on the other two trialists adding that: “The lad from Forest is a centre-forward, a young lad, in training he’s looked OK…” This matches reports in the media which claim that the player is striker Kieran Hayes.
Another trialist is Ethan Beckford and Askey commented: “The other lad is Darren Beckford’s nephew, who’s been playing in America and he’s a midfield player.”
All five of the trialists could feature in Saturday’s friendly game against Blackpool as they aim to impress and potentially earn a permanent Port Vale contract.
So, who’s on trial at Port Vale?
Harvey Bradbury – 21 year-old, six foot 3 inches tall forward. Formerly with Millwall and Oxford Utd.
Dino Visser – 31 year-old South African goalkeeper, formerly with Exeter City and Crewe Alexandra.
Rhys Lovatt – 23 year-old keeper and former understudy to Scott Brown at Cheltenham Town.
Kieran Hayes – 21 year-old Nottingham Forest striker, who was on loan at Truro last season.
Ethan Beckford – 21 year-old midfielder, son of former Vale loanee Jason Beckford. Has played in the Canadian Leagues.
