Zak Mills player profile:
Port Vale FC signed former Oldham Athletic, Morecambe and Grimsby Town defender Zak Mills on a one year contract on the 16th July 2020. Mills was the club’s second new signing of the summer as the versatile defender signed a one year deal with the club.
Mills is primarily a right-back but he can play across the defence as well as in midfield thus giving John Askey’s side cover in a number of areas.
“He knows this level, and it gives us good competition for James Gibbons who will need that,” assistant manager Dave Kevan told Port Vale’s website. “He’s a good footballer and he likes to join in going forward, we’re looking forward to working with him.”
The Peterborough-born defender has made more than 300 career appearances since beginning his career with non-league outfit Histon in 2010 and moving into League football in 2016.
Mills made his Port Vale debut on the opening day of the 2020-21 season and scored in a 2-1 Carabao Cup win over Scunthorpe United. He was a fairly regular pick under John Askey but less so under successor Darrell Clarke and was released at the end of the season.
