Are Port Vale and Exeter battling it out for Motherwell forward Ryan Bowman?
Motherwell have confirmed that they have accepted a bid from an “unnamed” League Two side for striker Ryan Bowman.
Vale are in the market for a strike partner for Tom Pope and Bowman had a successful spell at manager Neil Aspin’s former club Gateshead.
Aspin has already brought in Theo Vassell and Luke Hannant from the Heed and with the Valiants urgently needing a partner for Pope a link to Bowman, who Aspin knows well, is logical. Aspin has said the signing of another forward is his top priority in the January transfer window.
However, if Vale are interested they could face competition as Exeter City have been named as another club named in the media as interested in the 27 year-old striker.
Motherwell manager Stephen Pearson said: “They have made him an offer that we couldn’t compete with.
“Ryan is speaking personal terms now and heading down there for a medical. So we will see what happens with that one.”
